    i have 2 questions.

shud i buy a complete club set or shud i buy drivers/putters/ irons separately.

    Appreciate your help guys. thanks

Hello poppy. The following is my opinion. First off depending on what your looking to get you may need more than 2000 credits. That is if you want ALL new clubs. Your going to need anywhere from 2500 to 3800 credits. Just depends on alot.

If you buy a complete club set then your definately going to be saving yourself money. Out of the 3 club sets I'm going to recommend the cheapest is 2635 credits. If you were to go and buy each club seperately then your looking at a price tag of 3280 credits. And both prices don't cover the cost of a putter.  But if your looking to purchase the clubs you mentioned above then your looking at about any where from 3620 credits to 2780 credits spent. And again I'm covering just 3 different brands of clubs.

The club sets I'm looking at are as follows. If you need a slower swing meter then your only bet is to purchase the V2 Rapture clubs, which are at level 47 and cost 3295 credits. Never played with them so I can't tell you how they handle but I do know they have the slowest swing meter out of all premium clubs. If you can handle a faster swing meter then personally I would hold on a little while longer and get to level 60 and then purchase the G10 series clubs for 2635 credits. All my clubs are G10's (with the exception of my driver) and I wouldn't trade them in for the world. They have high trajectory, which means they go higher in the air and they have better stopping power once they hit the green. They also come in very handy at BPB. Now the only drawback which I found with them is that they seem to be more affected by the wind. But if you can learn to compinsate for the wind then these are the clubs for you. And the last set I would recommend is the R9 set at level 64 for 2635 credits. I own the R9 driver and it's a beast of a driver. It goes 275yds and would e a huge difference from what your using now. If I remember correctly those clubs have a medium trajectory but have better forgiveness than the G10's.

Now if your just going to purchase the clubs you listed above then below is what I would purchase.

    - R9 driver - level 62 1195 credits / G10 irons - level 59 1200 credits / Redwood putter -  level 44 600 credits.

The putter is something your going to have to figure out for yourself. It's going to highly depend on what meter increments your most comfortable with. Most people use either the Redwood putter or the Daytona putter. Then their are some that use the Spider putter as well. It's really going to be a trial and error thing for you. If I were you I would just pick one and try to learn it as best you can. It's going to take a little while but once you learn it, you'll never look back.

And finally like I said before I would hold on and wait till you level up a little more. Trust me, I know level 60 seems so far away and you want new clubs right now. If you can hold on for a while longer then you can get clubs that you won't have to get rid of for a very long time. Go ahead and get the putter now. Unless of course your looking at a higher leveled putter. Just getting a new putter will help you once you learn it. I know this was long but I always try to offer my opinions when I can because somebody helped me back in the day so it's only right that I do the same. And again these are my opinions and not something you "have" to do. Hope this helps you a little bit.

Master Yoda advises wisely, poppy. However, there's another way to think about it. Certain clubs you get now will stay with you for a long time and are definite game changers-wedges. You can get the same wedges now that many are using at the Legend level like the 64 and 60 degree wedges. I bought mine almost 2 years ago and they are staples in the bag. They are separate from the iron sets anyway so look at them now.

Instead of looking at whole sets now, look at the other pieces and what they can do for you. A driver for distance and wedges for the short game. The putter is just as important although I see a lot of players do OK with the Starter. The Anser is cheap, accurate and will set you up for the really good putters when you get there. Ultimately you'll probably wind up with G10 irons because they work the best. In the meantime, go for something that will make a difference right out of the box.

You can get a 250 yd driver, both the wedges and the putter for less than 1600 credits and have enough left over for a hybrid if you want and balls to go with it all. GL

*edit* I just noticed your level-forget the Anser, the Redwood is only 200 more.  :-)

All I can attest for is the Taylor Made Tour Burner 9.5 (250 avg) driver...don't waste your money or time w/this driver, pure junk. Just hit two perfect (w/b/s & dinged) drives w/27 & 29 mph tail wind. Should have easily reached the 300+ yd distance, 295 min right? 274 & 277 w/roll!!!!...JMO

What makes you think this? Where did you hit these? What did they land on? What kind of ball are you using?

2 drives do not a driver make.  :-)

    Master Yoda ...

Thank you for the absolutely wonderful advice. I have well taken it and have decided to wait to level up.. i have actually leveled up to 49 since i wrote the last post.

The thing is i feel done in due to the clubs that i have when i play alternate shot games or match play games. added to it is the fact that i am not comfortable playing stroke play games to better my avg and go up to the next tiers as i feel that the clubs dont help me at all.

But then again it could be the case of a bad workman blaming his tools. LOL

All the same, i will await.

    Thank you

    Poppy

As a newer member and still learning the game, I have made it to level 62. I now realize that I may have "wasted" credits and cash on replacing clubs because they were there. I agree with most everything that has been said. Look at replacing your wedges, hitting a "better ball"  combined with a Putter of your choice ( I have 2) and maybe upgrading your driver for ' NOW" distance. Once you reach the 55-62 level "test " the club sets you're interested in. Rent them for a day and play hard on all the courses. I can tell you that there will be a new learning curve everytime you change equipment.

As for as playing in stroke play or joining a group DO IT. Most players here are very encourgaing and during the games I've played I've picked up valuable tips from the "old Pros" that have helped me with my game.

Your welcome. Glad I could help Poppy. But also just don't listen to my advice. Also listen to YankeeJim as he has been here longer than I have and he to knows what he is talking about. One of the areas that you will see improvement in almost right away, is your wedges. Stick to the Taylor Made wedges and you will be sticking balls to the green like its nobody's business compared to those starter wedges. And one more piece of advice. Go ahead and play stroke play games with what you got now. If you can learn those clubs and know what you can do and not do with each club then your going to have a much easier time when you purchase new clubs. And learn all the different types of shots. Those are invaluable. The flop, chip, punch, and pitch. Hope this helps ya. Good luck to ya.

What type of spin did you use on those drives? Topspin ,backspin or no spin? Witrh that kind of wind at your back the wind will only knock down a shot with topspin giving much less overall distance even with the extra roll. No spin in that kind of wind is better than  topspin. But using backspin with that kind of wind at your back gives much longer overall distance due ti the fact that backspin keeps the ball in the air longer giving you much longer carry even with less roll. This advice which I follow almost religiously was posted on here many months ago by one of the best players on the site. BolloxinBruges aka Bollie.
