  tad off subject but, WGT more than likely gets paid like a mofo from thier sponsers....like Ping,TM...ect. imo asking to pay for clubs is a bit...well...green eyed if u will. ;-) that being said i will prolly be one of the "suckers" who pays for clubs and ultimately end up crying about the "beast". only cuz i have a hunger to compete.

  I'll chime in, yet again, in defense of the deviations. I believe that, with what little control we have over our shots, the deviations must exist for now. Yes it would be great to have the excellent mark mean just that, but with out full control, there would be an even larger separation between the best and the rest.  Yes I know, give us the rope to hang ourselves, and thats what i'm getting at. When that rope is supplied, and only then, the deviations should disappear. 

  Here's my idea of "the rope"

  Stance control

  Ball placement in the stance

  Visible wind gust changes and direction shifts. Eliminate the constant speed and direction.

  A more flexible swing meter with a sweet spot that changes with the power that is input. That would give more foregivness for a light, highly controlled short shot, and less foregivness for a 120 percent, knock the cover off the ball tee shot.

  This game has a certain implied realism the way it stands right now.

  I have, all to frequently, made some really bad shots.........I accept those with no problem. I have also made some very close shots that miss worse than my bad shots. Those are unacceptable, and also far to frequent.

  What I do know is that Links LS was a fine golf sim and it didn't have these beastly deviations. This game can be made more difficult w/o the deviations by accounting for lie angle, both the side and front. Mix in the ability to draw/fade off those lies and we're all set.

  i played ALOT yesterday.... i didn't notice any of this... MAYBE 1 or 2 shots in 90 holes played.

  with woods, irons and wedges...i don't expect a "dinged" shot to travel perfectly on its line 100% of the time... there are just to many variables.  with the putter i do expect the ball to stay on its line.  but if i read an 18 foot putt as no break, then ding it perfect, and it rolls by the left edge 8 inches... i don't consider that a bug/deviation in the game.

  i've only experienced 2 shots...with an 8i and 7i... when a dinged shot under perfect conditions (lie, wind, elevation, distance) came up way short of the green.  once on KIAWAH and once on Bethpage.... don't remember which holes off hand.

  And to answer the OP question.... along with the beast comes variations in how extreme it is from one day to the next.  This is where Tibbets talks about lottery golf.  One day can be perfect (no noticeable deviations) and the next can be brutal (seems like you notice every second shot).  Therein lies the biggest issue with the beast, if you happen to enter a tournament on a 'bad' day, you lost the lottery before you've even started... or if your opponent entered the lottery *er tournament* on a good day... forget about it.  This is kind of the purpose of multi-play tournaments, for all who were wondering.

  These quick meter surges to the right causing lost balls ob in water, especially kiawah no. 17.has ruined the last 2 games for me..had 4 birdies and double on 17...shot 34, could have been 32..getting a little too much for me to keep buying balls that appear to be trained to go jump in the lake or ob in other areas right of target..my goal in playing was to shoot and as low a score as possible..little difficult to do under these circumstances..starting to look a little too suspicious to be co-incidental...and when you remember and aim farther left you end up in rough or trap...has gotten to the point I have become gun-shy around these types of shots...the game is excellent in all other regards and I have no other complaints except that it really is frustrating to have this keep happening and destroying the round.

  I dont know what has been going on here the past couple of days, but i have never been so short or long with any of my shots. for example, i had a 101 yard shot to the cup with a 9mph in my face, i used my 105 wedge, and i came up 5 yrds short..i wouldnt be so mad about it if it only happened a few times, but every single ready-go or any other match i have played in the past 3 days its happened. i cant get a single shot off in any round with out there being some kind of problem with it being short or long. the past few ready-go's i have entered in i have placed pretty high but since then i havent had any luck, im upset cause its costing me credits. and i know there will be someone tell me not to enter them then, this is true but i also dont know when the stupid game is actually going to be easy to play, sorry for the rant but i need to get this off my chest

  I just finished playing a round a kiawah and there was an 8mph wind left to right, So i aimed the ball over the left bunker to counter the wind, then i hit the excellent and what happened the ball went in the water! This game is pretty stupid sometimes.
