  I just sent this email to customer support. Everyone else who has complained on these forums about this recent change should also take the time to email support. hopefully, if we flood their support inbox with our complaints, beside just posting here, they will revert the change faster.

   

  NORMALLY USING CAPS IN EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS IS AKIN TO YELLING. I AM WRITING IN CAPS BECAUSE WGT IS NOW YELLING AT ME, MULTIPLE TIMES PER HOLE, WITH THE NEW OBSCENELY BRIGHT FLASHES ANNOUNCING I HAVE HIT FAIRWAYS ETC. IT IS HIGHLY DISTRACTING, BAD FOR THE EYES AND COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. INSTEAD OF ADMIRING MY SHOT I AM ACTIVELY TURNING AWAY FROM THE SCREEN TO AVOID BEING BLINDED BY THESE ANNOUNCEMENTS. IN MANY INSTANCES, WHEN I DON'T, I SUFFER AFTERGLOW VISUAL EFFECTS FROM THESE RIDICULOUSLY BRIGHT FLASHING ANNOUNCEMENTS. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY YOU WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA IN THE FIRST PLACE BUT PLEASE IMMEDIATELY REVERT THESE CHANGES.

  I contacted CS regarding this issue -

  "Hi, please could you give us the option to disable the aforementioned flashing text? I had read about it before I experienced it and would have to say it was far more intrusive than I imagined. I only managed a few holes before I gave up, although the flashing stayed with me for a considerable time after playing! Hopefully you can do something to remedy this latest WGT mishap, I can see from the forums that there are many who are also aggrieved, maybe in this instance the customer is right"

  Got this response, which wasn't a straight no at least -

  "Thank you for contacting WGT Member Services,

  Thank you for your feedback. We are reviewing this issue. We find it to be harmless and its meant to look interesting and new but, we could be wrong so we are reviewing this. We cannot promise change but, we will do what is best for the game.

  Sounds like a WGT runaround to me.

  And that is, they will do what they want - not want the members want.

  We are ALL great wgt enthusiasts and enjoy the game, it would be a great loss to many of your followers if they were to be completely ignored. All we ask is that you consider the consensus and keep to the faith of making the game enjoyable to all.

  It's funny...the mobile version didn't get the "bright flash" update.

  Maybe the powers that be just want to run off the older gamers who enjoy the desktop version.
  
  As if the young gamers can appreciate a golf "simulator"...a simulator needs NO FLASH...a simulator just needs to be as close to real as possible.  
  
  Emulate the courses WGT...leave the flash BS to Nintendo
