Hey Everyone! Apparently today is the International Day of Forests. :)

Lets go with players who post a story about camping, hiking, hunting, birdwatching, whatever as long as its a forest, or as close to a forest as you can get for those in the dryer climates, will have a chance to win a sleeve of balls of their choice. :) Funny, interesting, scary, its up to you! Will pick a winner at 6pm Pacific!

For me, went 4 wheeling/camping in Hollister with some of my buddies for the first time a few years ago. Nice area, paid entry, maintained by the forest service I believe and had a lot of fun. When we got there through, apparently it was tradition to wade through the "mud pit" from one end to the other. I figured sure, sounded like fun and since everyone had to do it their first time I didn't want to be a kill joy. Well, rolled up my pant legs and started my way across, must have been a good couple hundred feet long and the further I went, the deeper it got. Ended up halfway across where I was almost waist deep and just couldn't move anymore. Buddies eventually had to throw me a tow strap and winch line to wrap around my chest and had to be pulled out. Lost both my shoes in there and was covered in muck. Learned that I was actually the only one to do it in the end and had to wear flipflops the rest of the trip. :)

    All the Best,

My story is about a dense dark forest and a very scary place....still getting therapy to this day, some 20 years after the incident.

    It goes like this....

    I dated this girl once..................................................................................

    Yes they do!

But does it smell? Course not....you are in the wilderness.

It does smell, but it just smells like everything else!

When I was about 13 years old I went camping with my dad in the Olympic National forest in Washington state , We went on a hike for a few miles then we turned back to go to the campsite , I said I will take a short cut and beat you guys to the camp , So I took off into the woods thinking I was going in the right direction , However I got lost and found myself in the middle of no where , The sun was about to set , It would be dark soon , I freaked out and starting running and yelling for help , The forest was so thick I could not see the sky , I think I ran in a big circle but I cant be certain , About 2 hours later I looked up the this mountain and I seen an object moving , It was a car on a road , boy was I happy to see that , I ran up the hill to the road , A car came by and I ask them where I was? and they told me the camp site was not far away , that's when I saw my dad walking down the road looking for me , I was real happy to see him , I was shook up and scared but very lucky ...............

ive been camping many times, but nothing will top summer 1988. grampa had a camper, and i had it to me the entire summer. learned how to drive, smoked my 1st ciggy, drank 1st bottle JAmeson, met some girls (yeah ill leave that part out), even saved a kid that was drowning. i guess youd have to have been there...just one o those things you wish you could get back one more time. not a care in the world, and thats the truth!

Good coming of age story! My first time driving was also on a camping trip when I was around 12, old fire roads are great for that.
