Thoughts away from this seem to introduce thoughts that have nothing in common with quality of play.
When virtual balls cost more than RL balls then Virtual Balls Matter. At least in RL a ball lasts until you no longer desire to search Out of Bounds, scoop from the water's edge, or head into the woods to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on one (plus on the other ones you find that others hit astray.
Maybe the next virtual tools sold in the WGT Pro Shop should look like these...
Once in your virtual bag you could recover the mishits caused by spotty meters, VEM, or the affects of the alcohol some of us partake in during play.
If you're going to have a golf simulator then let's have it emulate "true play" as much as possible.
Fair is fair after all.
