Front 9 and back 9.
For the first 5 holes we matched each other blow for blow, going bogey, par, par, birdie, par. The next couple of holes I had no hope, losing both. On hole 8 I hit my first ding of the round to 10 foot, Wrinkles with 15 foot. He 3putted and I got par. Hole 9 I bogied and Wrinkles got a nice par. On hole 10 Wrinkles ran into deep trouble, hitting first the 30-40% rough off the drive, then some 'Light brush' that was 80-90%, then some 30-40% stuff. He then hit the shot from there to 10 foot. Meanwhile, I got on the green in two (just about) and 3putted. He got double bogey and I got a bogey. On #11 he took the hole nicely. #12 and we both scrambled par. On #13, I missed the ding late and had to recover from 40-50% rough to have a 175 yard approach while he only had to hit from 38 yards in 20-25% rough. I hit 9 yards short onto the fairway while he hit high of the hole to 12 foot. I scrambled par and he missed an opportunity with par. On hole 14 I had a bad tee shot to 40 foot away, while a 30 footer from the fringe. He putted to 4 foot while I putted to 7.5 foot. I missed and he took the hole. Hole 15 we halved. Hole 16 I got metered on the approach while he hit a sweet birdie. The match to #1 seed Wrinkles.
He was a great player to play with, hitting a few birdies, a few pars and very little bogies. Best of luck in the next round and thanks for organising this Gocubs!
