Better than most, I suspect. My first round was a 33.

LOL  my caddie seen how my cat and dog now walk.  I've been carrying my own bag since before the yelloways.  ;-)

As far as Pebble back 9,  it's kicking my butt even though it should be an easy 9 holes to play,  I just keep leaving myself in the wrong spots on the green.  But I'm new here and still learning the game.  ;-)

Least that's how it feels sometimes, most times.

Hazen, not all that easy with moderate wind and champ greens, but most definitely fun and a good challenge...am slowly learning the B9...for example, took me a while to realize that the first par 5 (#14) needs to be played a little differently.  For most par 5s I try to smash my second shot as close to the green as possible, or onto the green.  In the case of #14, I've learned that it's best to leave a full wedge for my third shot, which leaves the best chance for birdie.

On the other hand, #18 is more traditional, much better chance for eagle there.

Once you realize that pin is guarded by an SA type bunker with a very steep side to negotiate out of 50-60 lies, you'll either play right or lay up like you found out. Going long into the fringe is an easy pitch back for possible eagle. Playing too far right brings the tree on the right side of the fairway into play.

Be careful on 18 going into the left trap. That plays like the one on 14 and can ruin a good eagle op. For the most part, putts from above the pins are tough, especially the little 4-5 footers. The misses turn into 5-6+ foot returns.

Also, you can reach the green on 16 with a decent tail wind off of the sidewalk. It's relatively easy to hit with as little as an 8-10 wind and missing it is an easy punch up from rough. It does seem to me that there's quite a penalty on shots from the rough close to the greens, though. They won't stop for love or money so you have to have your creative wits about yourself when facing them.  :-)

Very true...like Painhurts, Oly and Merion, 12 ft below is much preferable to 4 ft above.

For #16 I lay up off the tee and try to leave a 70 to 80 yd wedge, but will have to try the sidewalk approach, hadn't thought about that.
