Chambers Bay......not a pretty course at all. Don't enjoy playing it.

I really dislike Olympic, in that you have to hit it late or early to try to stay on the fairway on five to six holes. The one par 5 or it might be a long par 4, you have to avoid hitting that darn over hanging branch.

Also Merion, some of those holes are placed on severely sloped greens.

I started a thread like this a couple of years ago....had some bum reads at Kiawah..and needed t rant.

But in honesty I like them all, some I play badly on, but they are great courses and should be a challenge.

I do not like RGS as to me it resembles the moon (just green) and I have been there in real life....and I disliked it then.....but on here I do not dislike it, it is simply not a preferred course.

I detest all courses at stages, depending on the tee shot, approach, putt etc........but I am grateful we have them all. if the shot is good...I love em all lol

    borntobesting:

I don't dislike any course. There are however a few holes that I am not too fond of. But the challenge to get a par or birdie on holes like # 15 @ BPB or # 9 @ Oakmont makes the game interesting.

I still consider any score on 9 at Oakmont acceptable as long as it involves less than 4 putts to that front pin.  Not that the rest of the course treats me any better, but that pin has always had my number - a nightmare to a shaky putter such as I am.

Disappointing to read this H - you do not set the bar high enough........

I consider 3 putts acceptable with that pin.

Last time I checked my math  <4 putts means the answer should be either 0, 1, 2 or 3 putts to be acceptable. :-)

However, I have recorded 5 putts there.... on multiple occasions and IIRC correctly a 6 putt once or twice.  And the more I think about it, there may have even been a 7 putt ...

And that is not counting the shots that land on the back of the bunker slope and rocket into the clubhouse.....

I really do not like that hole, playing it sometimes is a lot like going to the doctor and seeing them reach for the gloves......  rather unpleasant and painful.

Ya see ...it goes like this.....as I have seen your admirable, silky putting skills in action......

    4 Putts....more like it

    3 Putts - Possible

    2 Putts - Highly Unlikely

    1 Putt - Virtually Impossible

0 Putts - Tis possible you may fluke one

Yes above 4 - it is in the realms of possibility...as you have testified!

To be honest the only time I have two putted from above or being pin high is sinking a long putt coming back.

My best play would be find the trap in front to give a possible up and down or at least a two putt bogey......but I cannot do that......I feel the need to attack the hole...like the course has dared me too.....

No kidding, can't imagine how many strokes that could have saved me over the years - alas, I suffer from that same affliction.

    K7JBQ:

You're one tier bump away from finding out what Chambers Bay is all about. Believe me, it's a much different course from the tips. Still fun and yes, you can score well, but it's a lot more challenging.

    MrFunnyWobbl:

Chambers is a fantastic course... good scoring course if you know the greens really well and play smart

Agree with K7. Chambers - as an early-level legend - is almost unplayable if you want to stay under par, at least for me. Can't stand this course. A couple of par 4's that should be 5s.  Chambers will make you wish you hadn't made legend. You'll see what we mean when you get there. No spoilers.
