I've found Chambers plays easier as the green speeds INCREASE. That is because you can really use the slopes to get the ball close.

Merion and Olympic always get my nappies in a bunch.  You are constantly having to finagle your tee shots around trees or thread them into a certain spot. Margin for error off the tees is really small on these courses for me.  Of course, Oakmont is the most diabolical for putting if you are out of position (good luck from above the hole on #9).  But like or dislike?  I like them all.  There is enough variety and uniqueness that you need a specific game plan for each course.

    GRAntmoles:

I started this post in the heat of the moment :)

    In all honesty.

    I like all the courses.

I have scored well at Chambers bay but not with std balls.

I am finding Pebble Beach a bit of challenge atm as well. Especially with std ball.

I will practice more and give a more realistic comment. later down the track.

    Thanks for the comments

    Cheers

Since I wrote this comment I have gotten a lot better at Pebble Beach and would say it's an easyish course.

Chambers Bay however still frustrates me.

In saying that. It can be a rewarding experience if you get it right on some holes.

I just need to work out how to get it right on the rest of them lol

There's only one "course" I truly loathe. Quotes indicate that it isn't really a course. Bandon Dunce is atrocious.

All the others are tolerable and have unique challenges.

Oh. And I am also the proud owner of...

    This

It was the last hole of the tourney. When I got that little pause, I thought, "Are you #&$*ing shirting me?" I've only EVER birdied that pin 3 times - One miracle putt and holing out from the bunker twice.

You're one tier bump away from finding out what Chambers Bay is all about. Believe me, it's a much different course from the tips. Still fun and yes, you can score well, but it's a lot more challenging.

    MrFunnyWobbl:

Chambers is a fantastic course... good scoring course if you know the greens really well and play smart

First round at Chambers as a Legend.

I hate olympic. No way to really shape the shot, just straight because of al those trees, trees, trees....

    got to be pinehurst

i have lost count of the number of times i have hit what i thought was a good approach expecting to end up inside 5 feet only for the ball to roll off the turtle back greens and come to rest off the putting surface
