Avatars are on the Player Suggestion List. We've released them because they were highly requested for a long time. Some of the other priorities I referred to would include (but are not limited to) more full courses to play, more ways to earn credits, game-play improvements, bug fixes and continuing to make improvements to the swing meter and reduce the cpu load. Those are free to all players and have also been highly requested by the community.
We do listen to your suggestions and cater to them whenever we can. Sometimes new things come up that push other things a little farther down the list. Priorities shift as we receive feedback from our players and that's kind of the way it goes during beta software production. We will come back around to club selection and many other community suggestions when those bigger demands I mentioned above have been satisfied.
As a former player I know this has been a longstanding question for some players and I only wish to provide a little insight for you guys. I know it's probably not the answer you were looking for right now, but I do thank you for understanding. =)
