    When it comes to conceding putts, normally the rule in alt shot games is to cc at 2 feet, in clubs it usually expands to 3 feet.  Very understandable and agreeable.

    Earlier today while playing (group of 2 L's, a TM, and a TL), I was told I had to cc a 10 foot putt for par to half the hole.  This demand came from the TL.  Two holes later, because I did not cc his 5 foot putt, he quits.

    I thought the cc button was an option, not to be expected.

    There is no binding rule concerning to any distance or other circumstances - conceding is to the discretion of the player with the button.

    It's ridiculous to demand a long concede as you described - obviously, he wasn't a good putter!

    On a 5-foot putt, I'd make my mother putt out. And if the 2-foot putt were downhill, breaking (for example, Merion, 5th hole), I'd make her think about it before conceding. :-)

    I am OK usually anywhere around 3 to 3.5 but if the other guy doesn't give then neither do I. The only time they get to me is if I am waiting on a 3 footer to win the hole as they are already 3 over and make me putt out. That is just churlish IMO.

    The 3-3.5ft option is a good ground rule for CC'ing putts. Generally I think if I can make the putt then concede. Besides this game is supposed to be fun !!

    Only an opinion.

    Distance means nothing to me.  If you have a 2.5 foot putt that's monstrously downhill and breaking hard, I might make you putt it.  If you have a 4 foot putt that's as flat as a board, I probably concede.  It goes by difficulty, not distance.

    Having said that, the only time I would expect someone to concede a 10 foot putt to me is if I'm a couple strokes ahead.  I don't three-putt hardly ever.

    I would say that here I am kind and generous on conceding putts. However, IRL , especially playing money games against my brothers I concede nothing.

    If I was playing with my Mom or Grandma I would concede a 100 foot putt but nothing longer.

    But my brother - no way !

    Ha - That seems to be the way it works,lol . With three older brothers, a $5 nassau  and auto presses when two down....a bad day can run into some pretty good dough...plus razzing ;-}
