Am renting the new level 97 Nike irons.  They are rated a 4 for meter speed as is the latest Nike driver.

There is no doubt that the iron meter speed is faster than the meter speed of the driver even though both are rated at 4 for meter speed

Since I purchased the latest Nike driver, the only advantage the new irons have would be that they are consistent with the meter speed of the driver.  Which so far during my rental period, they are not and it's not even really that close.

To me it seems like the irons are a 3 meter speed or a 3.5 at best.

Has anyone else who either has or is renting these irons noticed this ?

Did you think to clear your flash cache before renting them? If you didn't there is a small chance that the attributes of you normal irons are still there corrupting the attributes of the rental irons.

I purchased the new L97 irons and they are definitely faster than 4.0 speed. I would say they are working at 3.0 speed. I have submitted a ticket to customer support but have not heard from them yet. I cleared browser and flash cache 3 times to no avail.

Here is the message I just received from customer support. No surprise to me. I have requested a refund but they ignored that request. After all of the money that I have spent on this site, I feel I deserve a little better than this. Very very poor.

"Thank you for the message. We extensively test all clubs before we release them. The meter speeds are set correctly for these clubs."

I would do it after I rented but before they go in the bag. Then, on the game start,  the correct files will be sent based on what's in the bag.

This sounds like an interesting thing to try except for one thing....I've rented and purchased many clubs before and have never had to do that.,

And actually if the level 97 irons assumed the characteristics of the level 100 irons they would be slower than they currently are.  The level 100s are rated at 3.5 meter speed, so I would have to say that the level 97 meter has to be a 3 meter speed and not 4.

I also contacted customer support and they wrote back and told me they have received several reports to this effect and will be looking into it.  I'm guessing that someone just set the meter speed for those clubs to the wrong setting....but I'm just guessing.

I will try clearing the cache while I still have the rental clubs and see what that does.

This is why I always rent first instead of buying blindly.  If the meter speed stays as it is then no way would I purchase them.  Faster meter speed with a lower forgiveness would hurt your scores not help them.

If they get the meter speed fixed, I will rent them again to make sure it's fixed before I buy.  Right now they hold no advantage over the level 100 Nike Vapors, since the ony advantage is the slower meter.  So why would anyone that has the level 100s want to go to these ?

    UPDATE:

Ok I took the advice of the 2 members in this thread about clearing the cache before equipping the irons.

I went back to my bag and put the level 100 Nike irons in the bag by equipping them.  Then I cleared the cache files (this is using Maxthon).  Then I equipped the level 97 irons.  I then started a round on the back 9 of Pebble where I knew the 2nd shot on the first hole would be a medium to long iron.and I could compare the meter speed to the Nike driver that is also a 4 for meter speed.

The meter speed for the irons now appears to be the same as the driver....a 4.

Was it clearing the cache that did it ?  I can't be sure.....but if you are having this problem with these irons you should try it.

So kudos to the 2 members that posted in this thread and suggested that because I can't imagine this is just a coincidence or that WGT corrected a bug this fast....lol.
