  I usually try and go right at the flag. Rarely works, but usually goes off the green and I prefer the up and down to the 2 putt. It's about 50/50 par/bogey. On occasion a birdie

  One of the toughest birdies in the entire game, IMO. The back pin is worse than the front pin and takes some serious golf smarts AND finesse to get it right. The front pin is a little easier as long as you play from the right and don't expect to stick it. Short is always rolling down the front, a typical result and one you have a shot at pitching in for a birdie.

  And when you 're done with the 5, 6 awaits you!! Excellent green...where the probability  to find a spot with no lying dots to make the putt is less than winning sweep-stake.

  I love this hole,  no one has won the game until this hole has been played.  In 3 years of playing it I've only seen 3 birds.

  I can only recall making 2 birdies on the 5th hole, both on the front location. One I happened to flop in.
  
  The other was when my approach hit a bit short and to the right of the green. The ball then rolled on to the green, and once on the green it kept rolling closer to the hole, settling about a foot away from the hole. Even on that green, I can make a 1-foot putt. :-) 
  
  I've never birdied the back location.

  I think I have birdied it 5 or 6 times. Twice with putts and 3 or 4 with pitch ins.
