Hopefully someone can give me some club advice. I'm at level 83 and using the TM R1 L48 driver, I love the club but was wondering if its worth upgrading to another driver with better distance? The two models I was looking at were the Nike L80 and the TM SLDR L79, or should I just wait until L98 and get the better R1?

    Thanks

The driver you have is long enough for the tees you hit from.

Your driving accuracy is OK, so the meter speed isn't a problem for you.

A few yards on a drive won't make much difference to your overall game.

For the tier you're at, I agree with what everyone else has already posted. When you reach Legend, however, you'll probably want a new driver.

You can't go wrong with the L 80+ Nike Fly Pro Driver

    Oh hell yeah, same here.

I was addicted to the old Ping Rapture irons, for my level they were as good as I could get.

And every time I reached a level that would allow me to buy a better set I ran to the pro shop, the credits falling onto the floor in my haste to hand them over.  I'm not even going to think about what I've spent on putters.

The only club I'd consider in the case of the OP is a better 60° wedge, the current one is a much lower level and probably doesn't work as well as the other two.  The driver you have will see you through to a level that lets you buy one of the 287 yard ones.

    Thanks for all the replies

I'll take your advice and bide my time until I reach a higher level regarding a more powerful driver

    Thanks

    +1!

That's +1 on the wedge subject (this low level intermediate one doesn't even fit in standard length),

and +1 for the driver: Keep it until you feel that it's no good any more (which might come with Legend tier).

I use the M1 and find it to be the best I bought so far. Rated for 280 but regularly hit it high 290's. Depends on what ball you are using also.

To the OP: As one who has wasted too much money buying drivers, I would advise this.

The driver you have is perfect until you get to Legend. Below Legend level, more yards usually means you can find more trouble. In fact, when I first got the driver you have now, I discovered rough I didn't even know existed.

From the back tees, yardage becomes far more important. From there you often need the yardage to avoid trouble.
