I have been left on pro t's with std driver.

Not a bad place to be. It may be a tad more difficult but still achievable. The real gap happens at Master tier, and in all tiers you'd have to be a big spender to contend.

Imagine a 3WD as a budget replacement for the driver, and have fun!!

    Thanks Alosso!

I am trying to think a little long term and best use of credits.  Spending upwards of 1000 credits for a 3 wd instead of possibly 2 ATV wedges aprox. L38 which I hope to fill in a bag after eventually reaching L59 for the Ping G25 combo set would give me a pretty reasonable bag less a putter but there seems to be some putters in the 700 credit range that would possible suffice.  I figure if I try to play the consecutive days played and a few ranked rounds even with my standard clubs I will get to Level 59/60 in a reasonable amount of time and possibly have enough credits saved or accumulated to buy all of the items mentioned.  Would this type of gear/bag give me reasonable chance to compete at possibly the Master tier if I were to advance that far?

On the tablet I use, there are Play now 3 hole matches that I am randomly assigned a partner.  It is in this matches it is hit or miss as to when I get paired up by players that dominate me in the gear they possess or the distance lost off the tee allows even reasonable good hack's and amatuers to have an advantage over me, not to mention they tend to take 5-10ft gimmes to tie or win a hole.  But when I play for ranked rounds the standard equipment pretty much ensures I am not going to level up based on score, which happened when I had a good round by using the "free driver rental" and had a decent round on Bethpage.

In the meantime, still plodding along and trying to learn a few shots that will come in handy as I advance.  Thanks for being such an active and supportive member on these threads!
