3 ft up or down I add or subtract 1 yd .............

Wind 10 mph is width of marker box, in camera zoom I use 5 mph  marker box , does me ok , may need fine tuning but depends on how good ya wanna get I suppose

    Simple guesstimate CE ;-)

10ft above you? How does that play?

Add 3 yards to your distance.

10mph headwind..Does it depend on your distance from the hole?=14

Yes. Given more time aloft for a longer shot the wind will have a greater effect. Generally, that 10 MPH HW will have a ten yard effect at 200 yards. So if you have a 100 yd shot, the wind would need a 5 yard increase.

Keep in mind. Purely rule of thumb. Your clubs, spin and ball will affect this. Then there are two other facts to consider. Some holes lie about the distance. Wind is iffy these days. I call it wind VEM. I have had shots break INTO the wind.

Apply the rule of thumb and you'll do well. Just be prepared to shake your head with a WTF every now and again as WGT delivers that "OK let's show him who's boss" attitude.

    Good luck. Find the Ding.

Sometimes the hole distance is calculated from the middle of the fairway to the pin.  You will need to make notes to determine which holes are off.

Example: Dog leg left 525 yard par 4.  The distance is from the middle of the fairway.  Thus, when you hit the tee shot, you go wow!!.  Actually you are cutting the corner and not going down the middle of the fairway.

I add or subtract half the elevation distance on shots to the green.  seems to get me fairly close, but not exact.

    X^2  =  A^2   +   B^2;  Where x is the hypotenuse.

Simplest way for me anyway is for example...

    hole 170 yards

    15 ft uphill

    so type into a calculator

    170 add 15 divided by 3

    = 175 .

now wind is another matter i tend go off 7 yards to 10 mph

im no way up there with the greats but its not done me any harm.

    :0)
