When I joined wgt back in 2009 , all we had was Bethpage Black and Kiawah Island in stroke play , then they introduced St. Andrews and as time has passed they've added alot since I joined , its unfortunate we lost Oakmont , contract negotiations my have followed , but to no avail . With the addition of Erin Hills and future USGA locations coming , I'm ok with it .

However I do agree Wgt should have announced it and possibly sponsored a farewell to Oakmont tournament .

Wonder when Merion and Olympic courses become in Jeopardy ? That I would not be ok with , lol

    Peace

This site is a masterpiece in profit making. We get to keep Bandon Dunes, a waste of creativity, and lose Oakmont, one of the top venues in USGA. For those of you that wonder who Top Golf is go here,

Sorry for being off topic, but in response to the above.

It starts to become quite clear what has happened to the Web version of this game by reading this article.  Really gives us a good idea where time is spent.  Not on the web version.

Was Oakmont one of the courses not available for mobile?  If it was what others are not? Are they next?  Just thinking here, as I don't do the mobile version, so I can't go see for myself.

Guess it's a sign of the times.  I personally have no interest in playing on my phone.  Why give up a nice big monitor for a tiny screen that I have to strain to see?

But whadda I know?  I'm just an old fart that grew up with rotary phones and no answering machines.  How did we survive?  And yet, life seemed so much simplier then.

Do any of the Best Of (hardest, par 4, par 3, par 5) courses have an Oakmont hole? I should know, but I can't recall.

If not, then this has been known for a long, long time. Pity we weren't told.

I guess if there are any other courses with holes not included, can we assume they'll be next up to the guillotine?

The absence of Oakmont holes in any of the previous or existing combination/best of courses - and the inclusion of Oakmont holes in Custom Courses - lends weight to the theory that WGT violated the terms of agreement with Oakmont and were given the boot.

I don't know if its true or not - but if it is, the Custom Course idea (including Oakmont) was a masterclass in ineptitude.

We may never know the real reason.....

Unless a real Oakmont member out there makes some inquiries?

The topic of mobile v pc is a hot topic. One that deserves further examination as to which direction WGT  is headed.

I can say I have friends in three countries, and several here in the states that like myself use this game at home on a nice big monitor. That ain't gonna change.

So for us "old timers" that play in front of a cpu screen, are we being pushed off the flight deck for the youngsters?

They never did, not even in the former "Best of" courses. To me, OAK always had a "special" touch, probably coming from special contractual agreements.

Methinks that something in time with mobile play would threaten the contracts, and now, a year after the last USO, they terminated.

    No prophecy, only observation...
