So, I am going to get the Rossa later today, but I am close to having to make a decision about a new driver.  I am using the longest Rapture, but I really need more length off the tees.  I have managed to get very good with the Satins, and they have a 50% meter as do both drivers under consideration, so I feel I'll be able to handle them in my drivers and woods.

That said, at 58, I can get the G10 8.0.  The pluses are, of course, I can get it at 58, it's only 980 credits, and it has a med/high arc.  It's also more precise.  The drawbacks in this comparison are that it is less forgiving, and for someone who always prefers a slower meter, that can be risky.  And it has a listed length of 270.  Or I can wait until 62 and get the R9 8.5.  It has a listed length of 275, and is a half circle more forgiving than the G10, though a half circle less precise.  It also has a medium arc and costs over 200 credits more.  Which is the more worthwhile stick?  I don't really want to get both, though I suppose I could get the G10 then rent the R9 when I get the other 4 levels.  But what do you folks think?

Get the G-10 and wait until you can get the R-11 or some other driver that may come out in the meantime.

I agree I got the G10 and have very goo sucess with it. I've played against the R9 8.5 and have even or better distance against it. I looking at the R11 as my replacement lvl 88 (I think)

It can simply be put to these equations:

High Risk = Dangerous, but possibly high reward

Low Risk = Safe play, but low reward

I say R9. The forgiveness alone makes it worthwhile and it gets good distance. Very easy to manipulate high winds by missing and steer other shots. That extra precision on the G10 will hurt more if you miss. JMO

I was in the same position, & honestly wait for the R9, that little bit more forgiveness has been a lifesaver more than once, also the carry (270 when hit low) will help too go over a lot of problems.

    Cheers anyway.

It will be hard not to go for that extra length at 58, though in the long run I think the R9 is going to be the better club for me, probably taking me to 88 and the R11 9.0.  I really can't see me even trying any of the clubs above the 50% meter.  I'd just lose balls.

I have the R9 and get on great with it, nowhere near as tricky as I expected. And it seems to outdrive the G10 regularly when I play someone who has one.

I'd wait the 4 levels then rent them both, it's going to cost a few credits but you'll have got a feel for both of them and can make a properly judged decision.

What's right for me or anyone else here isn't necessarily what's going to work best for you.

Another vote for the R9.  Been great paired with G10 irons.

R9 for sure. It is probably too late by now. I have the R9(62) and have tried callaway Z and i get around 300yds easy. My longest right now is only 350.6 But it is a good driver once used to speed. Hope this helps.
