Watching his last posted video it looks like he cashed out by buying a $250 gift card, probably sold off his clubs also.
If he left it's a shame but this is supposed to be a game, not a life. He worked really really hard at it and my guess is he must have been getting frustrated by some of the ridiculous scores being posted, you have to be REALLY vague to think there isn't cheating going on, I watched a guy shoot a 54 in a last tourny round while dinging EVERY iron shot but must not have set the auto-dinger ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUXKecUbGE7n_OHIUTjNl3Q ) up for his driver because he missed badly with that club.
I stopped playing competitively when our German buddy would come out of nowhere on the last day and better my score by 4 or 5 strokes, played him once in a match and he toyed with me the whole round, would purposely miss a shot and leave 50 or 60 feet of putt and then made it every time and just put up a smile, his shot making the whole round was just so-so but his putting program was flawless along with his low 50's shooting neighbor (as he called him) who couldn't putt worth a damn on video.
