Just a thought, WGTicon but maybe an answer with some hard answers instead of speculation might help to diffuse the situation. How about a heads up in the news section like we are running a promo available to residents of the USA only, " sorry for the inconvenience". Or does WGT really enjoy making people feel alienated ?????

Maybe instead of bitching at WGT you should contact DOVE and let them know of your displeasure.  I suspect that the US section of Dove chose to do this promotion and the foreign subs didn't participate.  If it was the other way around, WGT still would have no say so in the matter.

Of course they have a say in the matter, they could say open the offer to all or we wont run your promo

Well said, very much doubt WGT would. I'm quite sure it wasnt dove who programmed Dove balls into the game.

I contacted Dove via email yesterday about it. No reply yet. I also went to Dove MSN, facebook etc.. the reality is that all those profiles and websites bring you to the U.S. site and in almost all cases these sites can be accessed from all over Europe. !!!

So If most of the players who are NOT american dont get them yet we mere mortals are still visiting the U.S. site in hope dont you think it is still paying off for Dove?

Dove really thought about this didnt they?

Seriously doubt that WGT would choose not to run the Dove promo and not take the money for the advertising.  I don't know if it was the idea of WGT or Dove to give away the free balls, maybe both esp if someone from Dove is a WGT member.  I don't know if there was limits on the give away based on location due to Dove, legal issues or what.  I know that limitations exist from country to country, however in this case since it was Dove.us that funded the promotion, I assume that they wanted to hit their business groups target audience, the UK and other Dove groups might have chose not to participate or never been asked by Dove.

I see what your saying there.

Does that mean Dove.us. Dove.uk , Dove.eu etc are all completely different companies?

I'm pretty sure that WGT put the balls in the game and not dove themselves...  so you gotta moan at somebody. WGT if they wanted could offer them to everyone and they know it regardless who's running a promo on their site.

Either way  it reeks of bs to me...

Having worked in the corporate sales community, I can tell you that many companies view their different business units as independent operating units.  There is some synergies and consolidation but in terms of marketing spending it is normally done by sales channel, in this case US / UK would be different.

It does seem that since the balls aren't real, that WGT could grant them to anyone who watches the video but it might be a deal where DOVE.US said that since the other subs aren't ponying up we won't support players from those countries.  I have no idea how long this promo lasts but it has to be a lot of free balls since you can get one a day.

Thats the only real explanation I have received as yet and it makes complete sense.

To think that European players are pretty much represented second within the wgt community and the Dove brand is known around the world its seems nothing more than improper and arrogant not to recognise this in the first place regardless of who made the rules of this promotion.

The Uk website has the same products, pretty much the same website just no promotion.

On the US website the promo will end at 12pm on the 20th June...

So for all you lucky Americans... get your balls in...lol
