The last round I played on BethPage, I had a driving accuracy of 71%

Only one fairway was missed which accounts for 6 out of the 9 holes.  Both par threes were completed in regulation.  Does the stats include par threes as missed fairways.  That doesn't seem right.  Just thought I point this out.  I read some blogs in regards to driving accuracy.  They indicated that the par 3's shouldn't be included.

So the actual driving accuracy should be 6/7 = 85.71%

If a 3 wood is used, let's say, to keep the ball on the short grass, I have noticed it shows up as a missed fairway.

Thats interesting about using a fairway wood.  Have you notice it on Kiawah Island. Because, a lot of times I use a 3 wood on the par 5's.

Fairway %s are only counted from the tee shot.  Therefore, using your 3wood as a second shot, even if it landed in the fairway, is not counted toward that stat....

If you are referring to tee'ing off with your 3wood on Kiawah's par 5s, a very important question is raised....  Why?

Use 3W on #4 BethPage for position for my second shot on the layup

Just finish a front 9 round on BethPage Black.

              1     2      3     4     5     6     7    8    9

    F       x                      x             x      x           x

x=Tee Shot landed in the fairway

According to the score card the drive stats were 57%, however there is only 7 holes that account for a tee shot that has a fairway to land on discounting the par 3's which are including in the G.I.R.  Thus 5/7 is 71.4% roughly.  Perhaps, my math is a little off.  But the par's 3 are not counted in driving accuracy.

I believe I found the problem.  Comparing BethPage Black to Kiawah Island on the Front 9 for pars

                       1       2      3    4    5    6    7     8    9

    BP              4       4      3    5    4    4    4     3    4

    Kiawah      4       5      4    4    3    4    5     3    4

If you notice the major difference is the 3rd hole, on Bethpage it is a par 3 and Kiawah is a par 4.  This would account for the error in the driving stats.

I haven't seen this.  I just finished 18 holes at Kiawah and hit 13 fairways and it shows I have 93% driving accuracy.  I didn't use a 3 wood off any tee but that should register as a normal tee shot.  One thing that the game does incorrectly is the calucation of putts, on the pro tour the putts are per green in regulation rather than just total putts divided by the holes played.

Fascinating.  After all these years, I did not know this.

Can you cite a source, please?

    Peace
