The game is in Beta and as long as it is Beta with wgt working on it it will be this way. Now if it comes out of Beta they will be held accountable and must refund moneys if something goes wrong. It has been in Beta for as long as I can remember and will be when we are all gone.
I think part of the entitlement to moan is when a game is in beta for well over 7 years (I registered in Oct 2010 and I do not believe I was an early player), so whilst I am not supportive of a boycott, we're also kidding ourselves if we think we are playing a beta - unless they have the world's slowest coders.
If it were truly a beta there would be no micro payments, because it was only a beta. Unfortunately these days many developers slap 'Beta' on it as an excuse to not deliver a final product and take money anyway. I think it would be far more honest just to call it a release and get rid of the useless beta tag, then the developer accepts responsibility and the player feels some ownership for the money spent. Simply saying that it is a beta is not really a defence in this case imo - despite the fact that I do not agree with the OP.
