MainzMan:
You might not have that phrase in the US Opy but in the UK On the game refers to a way a person can earn money. Being paid to perform certain acts........
; )
And they say American English is tough. Write, right....deer, dear...you get the picture. But on the game has a meaning???
And then you guys have bonnet. To you it's the hood of a car, here it's a womans(mostly big floppy) hat typically worn by ladies of the South or at the Kentucky Derby or other big events.(Indy 500 is another that comes to mind), they would not be caught dead there(this is another one of those words we have, their) without one. LMAO.
And lets don't get started with they're as another. It can be written correctly, spoken, now that's another story for a different time. Too many to list but you get the picture.
But, then again, this raises a question. Is a bonnet only the hood, or is it the trunk lid also, or do you have a different name for that.
