I suspect many people multi account multiple times. If you set yourself up a main account, and then sign up new accounts as you move from amateur to hack WGT give you some credits. You can then gift balls to your main account to keep that account playing for nothing.
TBF. That's too much effort for me, and I'd rather give WGT a little cash for balls. It takes 1 minute, and it supports a great site. But if people can play for free using this loophole, good luck to them, and WGT lose cash..
It becomes an issue when homest hacks, amateurs and pros, lose tournament earnings to other kinds of cheaters. The tier up is ot a perfect solution. The saddest of the cheaters will still keep doing it. However, the increase in effort might put a few off.
In answer to Icon; I haven't worked 9-5 for 8 years or more. I can work 8am to 11pm or I could have a day where I don't work at all. Even in a full day, I have time off throughout between classes. So, plenty of time for golf.
It was harsh of me to question your role. And of course you should play rounds, it is part of your job, lucky man.
But, this is an issue that upsets a lot of members, for good reason. And, yes, it SHOULD be someones job to check the tournaments.
If there is no money for that then perhaps WGT could ask the membership for a volunteer moderator to check for them in an official capacity. They could provide that person with free credits as payment. That moderator will do all the investigating and issue recommendations to WGT re: suspected cheaters. That moderator doesn't need to be known, or could be known, by the membership. But the member doesn't have any power to issue warnings or bans.
Would anyone be happy to take that role? Someone retired/semi-retired for example.
