Jalabar, if you continue to ignore the rules, then how do you expect to listen to you? I said that we do not allow posting usernames here, yet you did so knowingly...

I believe I posted a link to a profile.  I have seen other links to profiles posted on these boards prior with no complaints by WGT.  So, no, I did not break the rules, knowingly or unknowingly.  Now, if you would like to include 'No posting links to profiles' in the rules, that is fine, but it may take some time to go through all the posts and delete every link someone has posted to their own or another's profile.  If you'd like, I will go through the boards, find every link to a profile, and PM you all the links so you can go through and delete them.

Which of course doesn't speak to the real problem, which is an obvious cheater being knowingly allowed to continue cheating by WGT.

Or how about we celebrate newbies achievements in the same way we bestow accolades on our older members. Pointing out a players hole in one or amazing stats is not against any rules. After all wgt high lights members profiles every day, so why don't ppl high light one of our gifted newbies and praise them for their achievements instead of accusing them of cheating....get it!

Ooh, this is true.  I have seen on many occasions players congratulated USING their NAMES for great rounds.  I wonder how many people violated the rules by posting Mrenn29's name here on the boards after he won the Open.  Apparently, posting other player's names is against the rules, so congrats, what'syourname, for your Open win.

However, since it is apparently OK to post names  as congratulations, it should be fine to post:

"Congratulations, ********, for shooting a 64 at Kiawah your first day here and a 31 at BPB your second day here.  You must be really gifted!"

Perhaps make a thread called 'Gifted beginners', where we can keep track of all the uber-talented newbies here at WGT?

Many things have been introduced just based on player feed back, such as fringes, restart in unlimited stroke play, new pins coming for oakmont soon, and several other things.

None of these issues is as big a problem as the dual-accounters.  Fix that first, then worry about the lesser issues.

And again, in my mind the way to fix it is to establish a system where all winnings, including match play, are included in total winnings, and there is a set (fair) ceiling of credits you can win at a particular tier, after which you are either locked out of credit prize tourneys and MPCs until you tier, or you are automatically tiered.

I suspect many people multi account multiple times. If you set yourself up a main account, and then sign up new accounts as you move from amateur to hack WGT give you some credits. You can then gift balls to your main account to keep that account playing for nothing.

TBF. That's too much effort for me, and I'd rather give WGT a little cash for balls. It takes 1 minute, and it supports a great site. But if people can play for free using this loophole, good luck to them, and WGT lose cash..

It becomes an issue when homest hacks, amateurs and pros, lose tournament earnings to other kinds of cheaters. The tier up is ot a perfect solution. The saddest of the cheaters will still keep doing it. However, the increase in effort might put a few off.

In answer to Icon; I haven't worked 9-5 for 8 years or more. I can work 8am to 11pm or I could have a day where I don't work at all. Even in a full day, I have time off throughout between classes. So, plenty of time for golf.

It was harsh of me to question your role. And of course you should play rounds, it is part of your job, lucky man.

But, this is an issue that upsets a lot of members, for good reason. And, yes, it SHOULD be someones job to check the tournaments.

If there is no money for that then perhaps WGT could ask the membership for a volunteer moderator to check for them in an official capacity. They could provide that person with free credits as payment. That moderator will do all the investigating and issue recommendations to WGT re: suspected cheaters. That moderator doesn't need to be known, or could be known, by the membership. But the member doesn't have any power to issue warnings or bans.

Would anyone be happy to take that role? Someone retired/semi-retired for example.

If I were to enter an RG, or a fully open tournament, and were to finish second to ********, I would expect the first place prize.

One last thing... if you believe WGT allows cheaters to participate in skill gaming, and either does nothing about the players that have been outted, or just turns a blind eye to the whole thing due to the profit to them...

    http://www.gambling-law-us.com/Useful-Sites/State-Gambling-Agencies.htm

That link contains the contact info for every gaming commision in the US.  Write them and let them know you believe WGT has some inequities in their skill games that should be investigated.  Sorry, our non-US players... you'll have to look up your own country's gaming commision(s).

    Peter,

No worries, perhaps I was a bit abrupt in my reply as well. I am sorry for that.

That would just make it too hard to manage. Easier to just null the tourno.

It would be silly to go into battle mode over the cheating of a few sadsacks spoiling this great game. However, this is an area that WGT need to find some kind of solution to. Cheaters will always find ways to cheat, in my view WGT needs to find ways to discourage that - make it not worth their time to do so.

If you could post that concern to others within the WGT hierachy, it would be appreciated by all your loyal, honest players. Plus, a softer approach to those that call out cheaters and quitters. If someone happens to get called out for it, albeit by someone not offay with the rules and forums, then a gentle rules reminder should suffice, and allow the injured party to put their case. If the thread descends into an ugly row, close the thread.  It's not a big ask.

As it stands, honest members see a situation where WGT seem to be ambivilant to people who cheat the system, and come down hard on people that object.

I am not worried by it, as I haven't been affected for a long time. I play for fun, and a little gamble on the RGs. But I am always concerned for the good health of this great site, and that is when I feel a need to post laborious posts like this.
