One concern that (as far as I remember) hasn't been mentioned is the fact that some ISPs put blocking settings on routers. Router configuring can be quite frustrating, as some of the terminology is almost indecipherable.

The following is a generic how to for accessing router configuration. Do be careful if attempting this. I originally wrote it as part of a help txt for another online game.

Open Command Prompt window and type in ipconfig
    Hit enter.
Look for the ip associated with default gateway. Write it down.

Open a new browser tab and type the number in. Mine is 192.168.200.1
Hit enter. You'll be taken to your router's management. You may have to sign into the router settings window. If no one has messed with it, you can probably get the default admin name and password on the router manufacturer's website.  Some ISPs change these. In many cases, they write them on a sticker on the bottom of the router. If not, you may have to contact your ISP.

    This is more WGT specific.
Look at firewall configuration and network settings. These are often where ISPs take an overly careful approach. Most if not all manufacturers have a method on the configuration page to backup settings. Make sure to do this in case something you do really fouls the system.

Bjorn, what version of windows are you trying to install on?  Computer specs?  Just in case it might be a browser blocking issue, what browser are you downloading the file with?

I shows as 2.1MB and it listed as WGTLauncher.msi

Thats just the launcher, The program is 149 MB

    Windows 7, Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU, E7500 @ 2.93 GHz 2.94 GHz. 4GB RAM. 64-Bit Os, HP Pro 3010  MT  PC.

I use Avast browser but have tried to download the launcher with Google Chrome and others too.

    Bjorn

Bjorn, our systems are very similar  I have AMD Anthlon II x2 235 with is dual core as is yours, 2.70GHz, they both are about the same vintage as far as years built are concerned.   Yours is 4GB ram probably as my 6GB is DDR2, Mine is an emachines as yours is an HP.   We are both running the same OS(also probably OEM versions).  The only thing that has been changed in mine is replaced a bad hard drive, different power supply then original(none of this should make any difference), I am also running an installed video card instead of onboard video(doubt that makes a difference)  Has there been others that ran into no installation problems with onboard????  I can install this game in under 5 minutes and be playing.

I have advast browser installed, use it for banking and cc payments.  My download was thru Firefox as that is my default browser.  I use that browser as a general browser and on the forums.  I play using Slimjet and have the client as my start page on that browser.

There has to be some setting in our 2 computers, that block you and allow me.

Very similar specs in our pc`s yes, found something in "properties" that i changed. Something about the file coming from another computer and therefore it was "blocked", i unblocked it and have now started the installation again. So far it sems like no change, ie the Windows installer window is saying "preparing to install" and nothing happends.

    Bjorn

fully aware of that, can't find the post at the moment, but I mentioned that in an earlier post somewhere.

The reason for mentioning the size of the launcher, was so he could be sure he was getting the full download.  He has never be able to get it installed.

PS...just found it look at my post on page 38

You might try this, if you changed something it may also have had some affect on the downloaded file.  You might delete it and download the launcher again, and try the install.

Yes it was.  Still the question remains, why Bjorn can't.  I downloaded and installed behind Charters modem, my linksys router, and I have the window 7 firewall turned on.  Have never made any changes anywhere.  When I have checked from different sites,  the only thing seen is the Charter IP, not my routers IP nor any of the 4 computers IPs I have networked.

And I can't access Charters modem.
