How can a 105 yard wedge travel 106 yards in 30 mph TAILWIND.  This is getting ridicilous, when you calculate for important shots in a single play tournament for 350, you expect the wind to do its job.   This seems to be happening more & more according to the forums.  Its a SKILL game supposed to be, NOT HIT & HOPE!

If I had full backspin on the shot and hit it less than full, this is about result I'd expect. What was the distance you wanted it to carry?  a lot is left out of your statement here.

But this is the clincher, how can my drive when i've underhit it by 3/4 on meter, travell 240 yards with 20 tailwind straight into bunker i'd purposely underhit to avoid?

OK so so how much of the 240 was carry and how much was roll? When you back off the driver I find you get a much lower trajectory shot, and thus the roll out becomes hard to predict. You may have just gotten a bad bounce.

Wait a minute...  240 yards? were you hitting Driver or 3W? if you were hitting Driver and wanting it to go 240 when you have a 3W that goes 240, you really really need to have a talk with your caddy.

I can predict Chris's next new topic in the forums.

Gripe. Moan. rhetorical question. incomplete information. moan, moan.

You are like the Andy Rooney of WGT. Don't change! we love you man! :P

RSG 241 Par 3 with 20 wind in your face. Who you gonna scare with that 3W?

He edited out this part from his original post. but he did say "TAILWIND" and he did say he was trying to avoid a bunker, and he did say "DRIVE"

If i'm hitting driver on a par 3, I'm not going to call that a drive, I'm going to call it a "tee shot".

so.. your point is true jim, but I don't think this is what he was talking about.

I'm trying to get to the crux of chris's confusion, let's not 'blow' this thread off topic. HAR HAR.

The drive was 340 yards,on the 18th hole ( i may have typed wrong in my frustration without realising) went straight for bunker, when i usualy play same shot and i'm 30 yards SHORT of bunker, but i've deleted it because what can be done about it? It never made me bogey & i'm still leading the tournament (so far so good) for many a $$, I think the shot was taken presuming i was on full when actually it was 3/4 because it didn't hit a bump or anything unusual.

But as for the wind &  wedge, i hit it expecting it to carry to at least 116 yards, 108 is the usual yardage without spin & with my cally's and no wind

    LOL.  Very punny, Bird.  ;-)

On an unrelated note, your thread about tips helped my putting out a lot. I was so wrapped up in trying to be exact that I didn't realize the birdie misses were too close to the hole, not past it. A little more aggressive putting took care of it. Tx for that.

    Now, back to Chris..........  :-)

Ok gotcha... a simple typo. BUt yeah, I think your shot just was one of those with an unpredictable roll, it seems to happen when you take less than a full shot. Saving par from there is really good. that's the best you can do, well done.

The, wedge, yeah I dunno, seems off to me too.

    As you were...
