    Wk 48 Multiround Open
    KIAWAH ISLAND: THE OCEAN COURSE
Play a two-round stroke play tournament on The Ocean Course. Limited to the first 50 entrants, top players get WGT credits. Open to the US only, except Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Vermont

You will kindly explain how a game that I've been playing and winning credits at in tournaments for over a year suddenly exempts me, and anyone else living in the excluded states, from entry.  This tournament is no different than any of the others I've legally participated in, it just has 2 rounds instead of 1.
I've been calling for multi-round tournaments for as long as I can remember being here, and to exclude me from the very first one is pretty well insulting.  Well done on excluding your top player from all your new tournament features now.

Yeah, I mean what's the difference between this tournament and this one?

That one paid credits for an entry fee and everybody could play.  As much as excluding tibbets (and others stuck in his situation) helps my bankroll, it's just not right.

    Open it up.

*edit* And why is it only 50 people?  And why is the purse only 2500 when 5000 will be taken in as entry fees?  If 10% is the going rate around here then shouldn't the total purse be 4500 on 5000 credits?

Folks, this is extremely frustrating, but we're in this together now. I was looking forward to these multi-round tournaments, but it looks like not even the entire U.S.A. is allowed to participate. Hope you can understand now why for many of us overseas it was hard to take when, in response to our complaints, folks kept saying, "Oh, blame your stupid government, stop whining!" Some of you are now getting to taste that same medicine.

Certainly not a perSonal attack Fats, it's just the fact that one player from whatever country you live in, wants to run wgt, we could care less what your one and only thoughts to the subject are!!

I'm with Ed here, fix it!

Claremoreblue & SlashX, you are both violating the rules by posting personal attacks to the forums, and might get banned. Watch out. (PS: You've now edited your earlier harsh post above, ClaremoreBlue, but it still doesn't make sense.)

Please lets not return to the weekend flame wars. As seasoned posters you should all know better.

I fully agree with tibbets. What's with the exceptions?

So you practice, participate in the forums, support the site, advance through the ranks only be rewarded with...oh btw...you can't play here any more? Not a very inspiring message. The only logical conclusion to aspiring players is to fly under the radar most of the time and move to a state where you can play.

What's next? You can only play in tournaments with Taylor clubs?

I don't know if this helps any, but if I'm interpreting this correctly wagering credits on WGT would be a misdemeanor for both parties.

Even if this isn't the exact reason, it's probably something very similar and related to skill-based gaming.  I'm pretty confident WGT doesn't intend to purposely exclude anyone, though I can offer no explanation as to why it was ok for everyone to participate in this tournament 6 months ago.

Anyway, I'm not the best with legalese, so here ya go...

    http://www.gambling-law-us.com/State-Laws/Connecticut/

Sec. 53-278b. Gambling; professional gambling; penalties.

    (a) Any person who engages in gambling, or solicits or induces another to engage in gambling, or is present when another person or persons are engaged in gambling, shall be guilty of a class B misdemeanor; provided natural persons shall be exempt from prosecution and punishment under this subsection for any game, wager or transaction which is incidental to a bona fide social relationship, is participated in by natural persons only and in which no person is participating, directly or indirectly, in professional gambling.

    (b) Any person who engages in professional gambling shall be guilty of a class A misdemeanor

"Professional gambling " means accepting or offering to accept, for profit, money, credits, deposits or other things of value risked in gambling, or any claim thereon or interest therein.

What really flips my lid about this is that CT has a few casinos.  I guess that's not skill-based gaming, but that doesn't really make sense either.  Meh.

Yeah, I've read all the gambling laws from the state.  It still doesn't explain why I could enter the Master Open this or any other month, or any of the other tournaments I've entered that have a credit entry fee.

Thanks for looking though.  We'll see what WGT has to offer up about it, and why/how it's different.
