    birdwell:

    hmm..

checking out the new movements, I think this might be a good change. Before the 'taper'  was sort of strange, seemed like it wanted to be like a fourth-order bezier curve.

I never got a good feel for the taper, it was even hard to count how many movements you actually had in a swing, as some of the movements were bunched up together. Thus you could not trust anything below 2 avatar movements down from the top. (and even the 2nd down seemed off sometimes)

Before there were 18 avatar movements, now it is 12

Now, the new scale is close to linear at at the bottom and gets more logarhythmic at the top. I think the old curve tried to do this, but the middle was off. Now if you take 6 moves from the bottom, you are almost exactly in the center.

You have less avatar movements now, especially  at the top of the range. At first, this might cause you to think you'll have less "precision" now, but actually the opposite is true. I'll try to prove this postulate a bit later, no time right this second....

Bird I agree, but I am only getting 11 movements, this explains why I put 2 balls in the water at St Andy being only 40 something yards away from the hole. Have to re-calibrate all my clubs

Count the top of the swing as the 12th.

Exactly YJ. Just like there was 19 movements before and the top was 20

oh that's so funny! I swear it was 18 before - 17 plus the top!

it was hard to count them for me, a lot of the ticks seemed really close together.

Birdwell, nice diagram, but too complex for me.  I've been using new numbers, based on 12 increments, and for the most part, it seems to be working.  My confidence was completely gone before my last round.  There's a bit more room for error with 12 increments, as the gap between increments is longer, but with more practice, it'll get better.

Good luck fellow avatar increment players.  We'll all adjust in time.

LOL. Don't be, if you don't use avatar movements this won't affect you.  :-)

I use a ruler on the meter, calculate the % play the wind and hit the ball!  it works just fine for me.old adage  K.I.S.S.  keep it simple........ and no i'm not going to finish the acronym.......don't want hate mail with people saying i called 'em stupid....And if you think birdwell's chart has anything to do with this game then I have property for sale. call  1-800-GULLIBLE!!!!  its not good to over think sometimes,,,the game is difficult enough. As far as using avatar movements, that method always drove me nuts,it didnt seem consistent to me.My hat is off to you guys that have made that work! You have more patience than I .
