Brazilians accidentally clicking the country above Brazil maybe? None of the Bouvetians appear to be doing anything untoward, or much of anything at all for that matter. :)

Really?  Well, if you will check the scores for the Week 40 Unlimited for hacks, you will find 4 players from Bouvet Island, all of whom are in the top 8, all of whom joined the same day (Sept. 21st), and all of whom shot a 30 or 31 on their first round ever here, many the day they joined.  The four of them have a collective 81 holes (Nine 9 hole rounds) and have shot, respectively, 30-29-30 by player one, 32-30-32 by player two, 30 by player three, and 31-31 by player four... if you are keeping track, those are averages of 59.33, 62.67, 60, 62.  Collectively, they have a 61 average.  The highest level any of them have attained is 16, which means there has been no power practicing either.

Still think there is nothing 'untoward' going on there?

Did I mention that player one won the week 39 9 hole Unlimited for hacks?  On his first round ever?  Or that they are currently 1st, tied for 2nd, and tied for 6th in this weeks 9 hole Unlimited?

My original somewhat flip response was based on the observation that the majority of Bouvet accounts are for Level 1 Avg 150 Hacks. You're absolutely right, of course. Clearly some multi accounter has taken refuge there.

Yes, and this info was sent via e-mail to WGT several days ago, but as of yesterday they were still actively being allowed to cheat by WGT, as one of them shot an Unlimited round yesterday.  Not sure why WGT is still knowingly allowing cheats to play.

JaLaBar, how many times has this topic came up? Many times since I been Playing WGT will not do anything about it. Yes its very easy to catch a cheat, multi acounter, IP Trace. we can do it from our desktops..

WGT will never do anything about it, or it would of already been done. As you can see WGT does not ever respond to negative or cheating posts.

An update:  On Oct. 12th I got an e-mail from WGT apologizing for the delay in responding and telling me they will look into these accounts right away.  As of 10/15, a search of Bouvet Island players finds that all 4 of the offending players no longer show up.  As with other suspended accounts, you can still find them if you have a link, but a search of WGT players no longer shows them.  I do believe WGT acted and suspended the offending accounts.

What I wish I knew, but am destined to never know, is whether WGT discovered the origin accounts and suspended them as well.  I do hope they did.  The players that created those accounts do not deserve to play here on any account.

I also wish I knew if WGT had any means whatsoever of stopping them from just making more accounts.  Maybe not so blatant this time.

I found one seemingly linked to those, from American Samoa, that was much more insidious.  Player created the account in May but did not play a single ranked round until September.  Also, no match plays, no alt shots.  And only level 11, so no significant practice time either.  Yet. first round is a -7 29 at Kiawah for a level 11 Hack average of 58.  Why do I say it is linked to the others?  The very day they made the Bouvet Island accounts, this other player friended them, even though none of them had ever played a round.  How does a player who has only ever played one round 2 weeks before make friends with someone who never played a round, neither of them has ever posted on another wall, etc?

He also has another friend with an account created the same day as the Bouvet Island accounts, and that friend has friends in the Bouvet Island contingent as well.

Sounds to me like a multi-account cartel.

The only thing WGT can really do is ban their ISP. But this is not fool proof either since you can get that changed, sure its a pain in the butt to do but it can be done. So what else is there?

    a. Require a CC to register. Well you can have more than one but it could be tied to a name or billing address. But really, I would never see WGT do that.

    b. Google and a few others use a phone verification system but most people have more than one and I am not sure that would work either.

Really, all you IT wiz kids how would you truly stop it?  We had major changes last summer to affect this and it really didn't fix much. We have asked for simple things like a player rating system similar to other sites like E bay which would allow the community to police each other and that continues to fall on deaf ears.

Honestly, that is why I have stopped playing the RG's and such because of the rampant cheating, it's just not worth it until they do something. I guess "something" is the million dollar question.

Maybe its WGTniv,  WGTicon and his WGT buddies that own these accounts, good reason to do Sweet F$$K all about them.

    Just a thought.

This is also one of the main reasons I have stopped spending my money on open RGs and other premium tournaments, as well as why I have dissuaded several friends from starting here, because from the beginning they will be on an uneven playing field.  I have sent WGT an e-mail detailing the lost revenues that this problem is costing them.  These multi-accounts don't spend any money, but they are sure costing WGT revenue.

I also mentioned the Mio ban and that the appearance amongst many of the long time, legit players is that WGT is more interested in protecting the cheats than in protecting the legit players from them.
