Has anyone had both of these drivers, and can say whether there is a big difference between them?  The G10 is rated at 270yds, the R9 at 275yds, but some of the comments on the R9 suggest it reaches greater distances than it's rated for.

The G10 is 1.5pts better on Precision, but loses .5pts on Forgiveness.  Otherwise, they are very similiar.

Also, the G10 is available to me in only 8 levels, the R9 in 12.  This is a big thing for me right now, as I am playing with the K15 which is only 250yds, so from the Master tees i'm finding it quite tough.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

most of the posts appear, to say take the G10 and then wait till the R11

(finding it hard from the master tees - try playing with the starter clubs from those tees drving is no fun).

    lol

Here's what I can tell you.

I used the G10 then went to the R11.  R11 is light years ahead of the G10.

I play quite often with those who use the R9...there doesn't seem to be much difference (few yards here and there) between my tee shots with the R11 and those using the R9.

If I recall, the R9 is a few levels after the G10?  If so, I'd just hold out for it.

I appreciate us late-starters to the game are spoilt for choice compared to guys that started a couple of years ago, it's been pointed out to me often enough the last month lol.

I guess what I am getting at is that, if i'm fortunate enough to tier up again to TM, is the G10 gonna be sufficient for that or am I gonna wish at that point that I had waited for the R9?

So on that basis, you wouldn't say the R9 is "light years" ahead of the G10, but you think it's considerably better and definitely worth waiting for?

I used the R9 for months, bought the R11 as soon as I hit level 88. The R11 took some getting used too. Just for the heck of it, I went back and played my old R9 all last weekend. I was still whacking consistent 300 yrd plus drives and I  think the R9 is better in a head wind than the R11. Also, if I missed the ding by a hair, my drives didn't turn out as bad as they do if you miss with the R11. This is just my personal experience, so please don't take my comments to the bank.

I'd say, just based on my playing partners (not hitting it first hand) wait for the R9 if you can.

But (IMO) if the R9 isn't light years ahead of the G10, it is a light year and a half. :)

Well, I used the G10 up to, and about a month into being a Legend, I had no issues with it at all in Tourneys, etc, but it became intimidating being out driven in MP 15+ yards every hole.

    lol ;)

Thanks for the advice MB, appreciated!

Also to renniw for your input.  My mind is made up now.  Kinda deflating tho, before this thread I was thinking "only 8 levels to go, woohoo" haha.  The K15 isn't all bad I spose, just a bit of a pain playing those AS games and always leaving my partner looooong 2nd shots on BPB.

For what it's worth I used the Level 62 R9 275 driver from Level 62 until I reached 88 for the R11. And I was a legend before reaching level 88. Using the right backspin in the right places that driver will CARRY in the air over many of those BP bunkers 285 yrds out there. That's all carry with no roll mind you. You can cut off a lot with it using backspin.

Rent it for a day. Then rent the G10. Use every shot. Play practice rounds in heavy wind. That gives the clubs a good workout for what they'll do.

I actually thought I had the highest rated R9 until someone in here told me I had the 275 and not the higher lever 280 yrd one.
