Ain't brain surgery, or rocket science (couldn't resist).

Missed the class on humor, did ya?

    EricW55:
Player after player who have armed themselves with the better equipment are telling me better equipment doesn't make a difference!?!  Could be construed as a tad hypocritical.  If it makes no difference, AND you don't compete, why did you buy it.....?

    EricW55:

Some of the responses (back in the day) to the grind to level 91 were that it took about that long to make the Legend tee's so it was about right.  Nowadays, with so much excellent information available on how to play the game, newer players are making the back tee's far earlier.  I, as a humble example, made Legend in my fifth week at level 72.

So Legend is now attainable in 1/3rd of the time, but the grind is 5 times greater?

So, I was going to let this go but decided to circle back.

Exactly, what do you mean "back in the day"? To what period are you referring? And what data are you relying upon for this conclusion: "So Legend is now attainable in 1/3rd of the time, but the grind is 5 times greater?"

Actually, the grind is easier than it used to be. "Back in the day," it used to be that the CDP bonus capped at 880 XPs. It didn't matter if you had a 10-day CDP or 1,000 day, your CDP bonus for the day was 880 XPs. That made the grind a bit more difficult.

It wasn't until September or October 2016 that we had the new XP system (IIRC). The new system allows a person to level up a lot faster than the previous one did. Then in 2017 (September?) they introduced Premier membership. A player could now get double XPs. Yes, it cost a bit. But it was available if players wanted.

in any case, the point is this: the current CDP bonus system + premier membership allow players to level up in a ways that are dramatically faster than what it was like "back in the day."

For example, under the old system, it took me about 18 months to get to Level 95. I remember because it was in December 2016 that I bought the Nike driver I have, which had been reduced by 5 levels. Today, if they choose, players can easily get to Level 95 in less than a year.

By the way, it's never been all that difficult to get to Legend. In 2015, it took me about 4 months, and I didn't spend a lot on clubs at that time plus I was certainly lower than Level 70.

Put some money on the line and take on the best in high winds on champ greens then get back to me.

    Challenge accepted.

You and me.  18 hole challenge match.  You pick the course.  We each put up 1000 credits.  No apparel boost.  I'll equip my bag as follows.  All of these clubs (or their equivalents) are available to you now, at your level.

Let me know when you're available.  We can chat on Discord while we play if you like.  It will be fun.

If this match (see post above) happens, I bet on Sam.

If Sam were to lose (notice the subjunctive voice there!), I'll send 3 sleeves of balls to EricW55. And he get pick whatever ball he wants.

Excellent!  Seeing I'm not the best, which high wind champ green tournament are you competing against the best in with that set up Sam?  That was the challenge.  Best of luck.  You can tell me how fair it was.

I'd watch! It'd be the first time I ever thought it was worth my time to watch anyone play WGT.

Oh I don´t want to miss this!

Just a friendly advice to EricW55 - practice. I know for a fact that Scott is extremely competitive when he wants to be.

Think back to the first wedge you bought and what a revelation and shot saver that was.  Same thing.

I'll offer a piece of free advice, which I'm pretty sure won't be considered to be valuable. But here goes.

One of the unstated points here that it is extremely important to have course knowledge. That is just as important as having very good equipment. What sets good players apart is their knowledge of the course. That takes time to learn.

In other words, a player is looking at 40-yard approach to a green. The player pulls his 64-degree wedge. Does he apply topspin, leave spin neutral, or apply full backspin? Answer: it depends. But he should probably use WalkofLife's chart and punch it. 😀

What holes play long and what holes play short? When is a layup (from the fairway) actually the smartest shot on a par 4? On what holes does he not really worry about the green-side bunker (i..e if he ends up in them, it's an easy up and down)? Which green-side bunkers are almost guaranteed to result in a bogey?

A player can't purchase course knowledge or course management from the Pro Shop. Those things only come from playing. That's really what makes players competitive--knowing what shot to make in each situation.

It's been awhile since I streamed on Twitch.  But if I can remember how, I'll be happy to ðŸ˜Ž
