MrCReePaR:
Ok I do understand thats why I said gaining wisdom comes from intense studies and rigorous hands on practice. Sorry about offending you and with saying that you also need to check your ego. Cause i said with all do respect just like you said to one of the others who commented. I also said it might sting and I was definitely on point with that. Look we are all trying to get better at this game some more than others so let's just try and drop this stupid debate that has gone a bit out of control wouldn't you say? And just enjoy the game the best we can. Have a great day and hopefully we'll meet on the course and be able to compete with one another
tl;dr: I think you read too much into my reply.
I'm actually not sure if this is directed toward me or not. But since I had replied to you, I'm guessing it is. If not, feel free to totally disregard.
I can assure you that I was neither offended not do I have an ego involved. I simply disagreed and then explained why I disagreed. That's all. Nothing more to it than that. And I believed my reply was fairly straightforward and respectful, so I'm unsure why it elicited an accusatory reply.
I post without passion. In other words, while I have opinions on the game and related matters, I don't hold them strongly, and they certainly don't define who I am (i.e. there's no ego involved). So, if someone demonstrates to me that my opinion is wrong, my attitude is, "Oh, ok. I had that one wrong."
That's it.
This is a discussion board in which people discuss. I'm always baffled when people suggest the discussion should be dropped. If others don't want to enter the discussion, that's fine. But I don't understand the felt need to tell others to stop discussing. I really don't.
Interestingly enough, more times than not, those who come in and tell others to "stop," do so after the discussion had actually stopped (or at least paused). Their calls to cease typically prolong the discussion rather than bringing it to an end.
Finally, if you believe anything posted to me on here "stings," then you definitely have never encountered "reviewer #2." The reviews or responses in academia are much more stinging and brutal than anything on here. One of my grad school professors was actually proud that an editor termed one of my professor's reviews on a manuscript to be "borderline libelous."
Apologies for the long post. With the video below, I'll try to leave it on a humorous note. Ironically, the problem was reviewer #3 and not reviewer #2.
