I was checking some awards today and it made me wonder, how many people have that one.

The award requires holing out an approach shot of at least 300.00 yards, which would take most of the holes out of equation.

If you have it and remember, please share a story :)

Hi Icon, nice to see you here!

Silver award here - 157 yds.

The number 300 makes me wonder how to achieve a hole-out from such distance?

The highest level 3WDs have average lengths of 240 / 250 yds - is it ever possible to shoot 300+ with one of these from the fairway?

If not, as I assume, it would only leave tee shots for this feat on Par4s with a drivable lengths.

Look out for Par4 Double Eagles which are HIOs!

I actually did it not too long ago (March 27th) on #12 Oakmont
Double eagle, 300.18 yards with 3 wood (wind aided)

I have a crystal 260.37 and for the life of me, cannot remember how or when, other then it was sometime during flash days.  I imagine it was for a DE.

Crystal here, 262 yards at St. Andrews in a 31 mph wind for my first double eagle. I had a wonderful replay of it for years until those were gone forever.

    Icon,

Some great memories and stories over the years.

I remember making a DE/ACE on hole 16 Chambers Bay.  Can't remember the distance though so it may have been from short tees.

I looked at the award and I have 6 of 7 in that category as it showed 258 yds was my distance for a holed shot.

I had replays but gone with a "FLASH" now ...

I also remember using the free Lexus ball and got a DE at Congressional over the water but not sure about distance.  It was with 3 wood though.  The hole number I can't remember but the pin was in front right of green next to the water.

Great stuff thanks for allowing us to jog our memory and pull out some gems.

    Michael

Crystal for me as well... 277 yards. It was at Chambers Bay in High Wind conditions. What I do remember is that it was with the Free Starter ball with a 29mph tailwind.

    Good stuff Icon

Those may NOT apply? I don't know.. because if they did, then #3 and #6, #9 and #10 STA would come into play and I know all have been holed out.

Congrats. That was the first hole that came to mind, because long long time ago, I had a shot from 306 that rolled by about 3 ft on he right pin. Could never come close since then :)

I think one can 'setup' few other holes. like sta #5 or #16, I am sure there are others, Perhaps #4 Oak?
