Icon...got a problem...check the current leader of the October Tour Pro tourney...on 10/20 he managed to play a round in the Master Tier tourney,...and shortly thereafter, play in the Tour Pro toureny...problem is, he played in the Master Tourney first...Bigger problem is that he played as a legend the day before...ummmm...needs some explanation.

    Here you go...

He was a Tour Pro on 10/1 and entered the October Tour Pro Tourney on that day, but did not start & complete the round until 10/20.

He made Master later on 10/1 and entered the October Master Tourney, but did not start & complete the round until 10/20.

He made Legend on 10/16, so he was able to play as a Legend in any Ranked Round, Legend Tourney, RG, etc... from that day forward.

As far as I can tell, what he did was perfectly legit and well within WGT's rules.  If you have entered a tourney in one tier and then advance in tier while that tourney is still going on, you may continue to compete in the lower tier tourney until it has ended.  The only problem would be if he was able to enter both of those tourney's after he advanced to legend, which I doubt and am sure Icon is looking into.

But it's probably easier when you've done it a few times already.

Ducati, interesting that you would call me out for advancing tiers too quickly, when you have been locked into  playing the monthly tourpro premium for 12 months now since oct 2010  without tiering up. I guess I don't understand your concern, is it that I stayed tourpro too long, or tiered up too quickly?

But anyway to address your concern, I  responded to your question on your wall

"I saw your question about monthly premiums"

You can register for a monthly premium as long as you are in that tier at time of entering.  Then you have until the end of the month to play the monthly premium.  So if you turn Master before end of month, you would be able to enter Master monthly as well.

    Hope that helps

    Don

but then saw this thread and want to clear the air with all

I paid dues like everyone else in the begininng. Spending $ having fun and learning. I played mostly practice rounds as my enjoyment came from hitting into and out of  bad lies, chips, bunkers, practicing short game stuff and shots read in the forums. I was in no rush to tier up and will admit to staying a tourpro longer than I shouldve. Couldve tiered up earlier if I had played more ranked rounds and less practice rounds but with the way you have to level up to be able to buy the better equipment, there was no incentive at that time.

I never played MPC, and almost all the readygos I played as a tourpro were tier specific. I didnt think of myself as a sandbagger.   Then I joined WGTLS and started playing with regular partners.  I asked chiefbt about joining THE MASTERS guild and he said yes, but I needed to go ahead and tier up as their guild was comprised 100% of legends. I also came to see how players playing lower tiers when having ability to move up were frowned upon.   I didn't want to be "THAT GUY"   So thats why the big push.

I played readygos, and also lots of  created country club tourneys for no profit with incredibly easy settings and played over and over. I was on a mission to tier up. If I shot a bad round, I wouldnt post, instead just withdraw and restart making sure my average was below the mark needed to tier up.

    My score history to show.

    My thinking was this.

In the beginning, I leveled up and tiered up to tourpro within 2 months of joining wgt and  before slowing down. With the way equipement is given on levels versus tiers, I just would play 4 times as many practice rounds as I would ranked rounds so I could lvl up ( not tier up) and be able to  buy the best stuff before moving to next tier. In the beginning, it was all my credit card buying stuff, as went through growing pains and a it was a few months before breaking even in tourpro tier specific readygos as many times was competing with rapture irons against lvl 88 tourpros with the best equipment. Now that I'm profiting in them, I enjoy Gifting and giving back to others. Besides buying balls for myself, all the credits I've won will be gifted over time, primarily to random newbies/beginners just starting out.

So yes, agreed, I stayed a tourpro too long and was wrong for doing that. Looking at how Ducati worked the system, instead of playing my own game and following natural progression, stayed TP to compete with him.  I apologize for offending any fellow competitors.   It is much more full filling playing the game from  legend tees and regret that I took so long getting here. No excuses, but  would be great if when a player  turned legend, all the best stuff was unlocked for purchase no matter the level. Had that been the case, I wouldnt have dragged my heels before making decision to tier up.  However, when I understood that higher tiers means more credibility, I changed the error of my ways and,  created the easy country club tourneys and tier'd up as fast as I could.

Im happy with decision to tier up , gain credibility and play on the masters guild team. Ducati you've shot 29 and 58s as a tourpro, you have incredible talent, no doubt when you decide to tier up, you will be as happy with decision as I've been.

I'm going to stick up for him (don't want to put names in my post).

He so far has probably given away half of those credits. I suspect he plans on giving away more or offering items as prizes in his CC.

It seems people are annoyed he won credits and is giving them to new players rather then having the chance to win them and keep them for themselves. I would suggest you ignore it as he's now legend and will have to enter tournaments as such.

Not trying to offend anyone, just my opinion.

    Cheers

    P
