note, I am not trying to be critical or dismissive of your question but thinking thru the scenario you raise...

    beerstine:
The thing I need most now is stopping power with the long irons and even with a 3-4 spin rating ball, I've had too many shots roll into long putts or off greens.

??? hmmm... if you are using a 4 spin rated ball and going thru the green - ( there are winds and greens speeds that is possible with any ball and setup)  but in general - if you have too many shots - then you might want to assess how you are playing each one of those holes.

it may not be the club/ball combo - but rather how you are approaching the shot.

for instance, some shots may allow or require being creative and using the slope of the green to work the ball closer to the hole - especially if you know it won't stick and hold your landing area.

The Callaway L97 irons are high trajectory and certainly stop the ball well with shorter clubs and in flat conditions well.  It's the long irons and elevated greens I see a difference.  I played the L90 P790 irons before which would stop just about any ball dead.  Brilliant clubs with an F1 speed meter I never fully controlled.  I guess it's just one of the subtle differences in clubs despite similar looking ratings.

IDK what I was looking at .

sadly not the first time either - stop trying to make up reasons to post in a thread that has already gotten replies from players with a much better understanding of the game than yourself - you added nothing of substantial value to the thread - and had to be corrected in regards to the irons and balls being discussed -

a few people I noticed with a far better understanding of the game than yourself --- Tabarnak777, Yiannis1970, SamSpayed, Mythanatos, Carlosdev, Seabrookflash, among others, in fact you are the least well informed person and even the players asking questions appear to have progressed to display a higher level of proficiency in the game.

please, just stop making up reasons to post something - especially when it has to be corrected... do better research.  And if players have already given sufficient advice - then just leave it alone.

    +1

I don't think he will listen tho.  he has no idea how much disinformation he puts out there.

If i had one recommendation to a new forum user here it would be to block that guy so they would never see the sheer volume of wrong info in his posts.

we know better. a newbie doesn't.
