Once again, I found myself going down the rabbit hole, while checking out some YouTube videos, I came upon one about this Canadian named Moe Norman which, at first, I thought was a joke. A spoof of "The Most Interesting Man in the World" commercials, but no, this guy, Moe Norman was for real.
According to Wikipedia: "Murray Irwin "Moe" Norman was a Canadian professional golfer whose accuracy and ability to hit shot after shot perfectly straight gave him the nickname "Pipeline Moe". During his career Norman won 55 tournaments in Canada.
Sam Snead claimed Norman was the game's "greatest striker of the ball", and Tiger Woods said Norman and Ben Hogan were the only two golfers in history to have "owned their swings"
Norman was self taught and never had a lesson in his life. As I watched the video, which is a half-hour long, I wondered whether Moe was the inspiration for Happy Gilmor.
As the story goes, Moe, as a young kid, was in a sledding accident in which he most likely sustained head/brain trauma and some say, as a result of this early childhood accident, he became a golf savant.
Moe was sometimes referred to as "The Rain Man of Golf"
In any event, take the time to watch this video. I think you will find it both funny and fascinating
