I don't believe Birdwell was trying to call anyone a sandbagger or saying players who don't tier up at a speed he's comfortable with are sandbagger's. I believe he was asking if his suggestion was a way to stop it.

Also players like yourself were my concern regarding his suggestion. With your level and current level equipment that last .43 will come off. His suggestion wouldn't allow you to purchase those clubs and you could be left at Master forever, if that was the case would you continue to play?

Also needs to be noted not all players are interested in tiers or ranked stroke play. 1 of my friends on wgt has only ever played blitz.

drake, I would not put you in the sandbagger category. It appears that you have a good handle on this game.  Take any doubt or question out of the equation. You should make TM this weekend. Just shoot 4 more rounds, that you are obviously capable of, and you are there. It took me forever, but I posted them all, good or bad. Open that TM door, and get ready to go WTH. Good Luck.

    birdwell:
The simplest idea here is to only give consecutive days played bonus on ranked stoke play games. This only touches on the problem however. This would be an excellent start.

Won't work... Sandbaggers will shot rounds over 40 just for the XP points.

Few weeks ago I made a coment on a threat similar to this one... I just copied my post:

     FlyinDoc:

" Include Match Play and Alt Shot stats in the algorithm for promotion, and not just the Ranked Rounds "average".

Or a tier-lever and average different from ranked rounds for Match play games...

In The Player profile let us see, (but in the summary profile we see before accepting any invitation)

    • Tier: LEGEND
    • Level: XX
    • earnings: $XXX
    • Match Play level or points:  A special MP tier ranking (any number to one to ten or something like beginner, advanced and big killer lol)
    • Match Play Earnings: $XXX
    • Reputation: X stars out of 10 (we rate every player with the start thing like the videos for free credits)

Of course conditions for every player should be according to the MP level or tier, so if a player only want to play match games, then don't let him be stock in the ladies tee... he need to advance through any kind of handicap.

Another Ideas regarding MATCH PLAY CHALLENGE:

    • for being able to play challenges you need to complete several amount of ranked rounds in every tier and have an specific Av. (this is to avoid you to loose because you are not on level and to avoid you stealing from others
    • You can only play challenges inside your MP level or Tier.
    • restriction to maximum amount of credits according to tier. (Ex: Amateur max 25cr, Pro 50cr, tour pro 75cr, master 100cr, Tour master 200, legend max amount) this way you can also promote tiering up.

Now regarding ranked rounds paid tournaments for avoiding sandbagging:

WGT need to promote tiering up. I have few Ideas

    • As in real life the pros are the ones that hit the ball better and further. So A maximum amount of distance capability for tiers can do the trick. (for example The top R11: as legend you can hit it as maximum length, lets say 100% for 285; and for a Tour Master the maximum length can be 90%, for Master 80% for Tour Pro 70%...) This way if you are legend, you are better, you hit the clubs better... This can help to make things fair and we can avoid a Tour pro shooting with my same clubs 100 yards  shorter than a legend. So If I want the to play my clubs better I will need to tier up or buy a specif club set for my tier (this is to make WGT people happy, more money)...
    • why people avoid to Tier Up? that is WGT Fault, there is nothing to win tiering up. So people ask themselves "why should I post good ranked rounds if they are gonna throw me 20 yd off tee? I will stop wining credits from that distance" ... What about dividing the equipent by tiers instead of levels. I became legend at level 80 and I had played masters with better equipement than I... I'm still not in level for the R11, I tee Off from the parking lot and masters with more level have better clubs and less distance... Acces to Equipent should be this way so people will be concern, insted of leveling up, to tier up. what does the level means any way? how much I play? sure it is not how many skills I have. To know the skills of the player we look at his Av and Tier...
    • A radical option to avoid sandbagging, Tier promotion, and more play; can be to set acces to the equipent by level, number of ranked rounds and Average. For Example Burner 2.0: Av 61, ranked rounds 100 and level 79. this way you make sure people play ranked rounds to achieve that level and  a good average to tier up and avoid sandbagging. They will need to play good round to gain acces to the better equipement, and this will make them to play for real and be part of the tier they belong.

I have many more ideas but I don want to bother you guys becuase of my poor grammar and this book writing lol, just remember they are just ideas and I don't thing they are the best, but something to start from.

I keep readin about sandbagger problems but I just dont get it to be honest. What is to gain from sandbagging? Seriously if you stay in a lower tier and play RG's for money then the only way they can win any real money is to get good scores & are RG's not ranked games? The only other thing sandbagging I can see being possibly profitable is playin one on one game for credits, now make sure you dont play high level low tier players for credits or only play people in your tier for credits and this should stop that.  Some people just want to be good but dont relize that to be good or great in a game you have to play with the best. The best in the game is Legends simple as that. So everyone should just play like champions progress though lots of rounds on differant course and strive to be a legend. Forget about the sandbaggers its oviously just a ego thing for the ones that do this!

    Just my 2 cents!

JMO but I think around 65% of the Legends should be moved back. When they introduced the Legend Tier it was assumed only the top players would be promoted. Unfortunately they haved moved way to many into the Legend Tier.  Make it hard to get there, only the Elite should make Legend Status.

This may be true as you are talking from experince. But I think they have made it fair. Play all courses, mix it up and attain the ultimate goal of legend. Seriously there is quick ways to level up but that becomes silly. For example if I choose to, I could create easy situations on St Andy's for example, become a TM this weekend and probably a legend before months end but I would be in no postion to be a legend as I have defeated the purpose of the game. Play all courses, master them for your level and progress but this is not the point of the TS. People just want to stick to there postion. I for one look forward to the day I have progressed to legend but that is me.

    drakeshead:

It sounds to me that all you members are against players who move up levels as sandbaggers  I'm a Master with a 63,43 avg and a level 81 I have been playing for 16 weeks and played 277 ranked rounds which is just over 17 rounds a week and put just as many pratice rounds in has well so do you class players like me a sandbagger.

One question??? why do you waste balls playing practice rounds...You have played all courses many times i'm sure since you are at level 81??/ just curious
