    birdwell:

    The srixons are absolutely the best value with good performance due to their durability.

    don't be fooled by the dots. if you actually count the hits, they're only slightly more durable than the the Tour SDs -- I think 120 hits vs. 110. there's a chart somewhere in the forums

    I played starter and the BEXballs (10 cr for 3) for the most part till I made Legend.

    this chart?

    The srixons aren't on that chart. I never did a count when I played them. My feeling is that they last longer than any other ball. I might take a stab at getting the number, for comparison.

    I find the Srixon balls to last pretty long.  I have played probably about 5 Alt shot games with them and I am only down to about half durability on my first ball.

    i use the callaway  black one.  for me its the only ball i can play  because at master it slows the meter down just enough for me to hit near the ping. i am 66 years old and my reflexes are shot. i have played with others who use the free stuff and do very good til master.  the trick for all the game is to be consistant with what you use .  meaning know where your clubs will go.  then play them as they are.  no matter which ones you use if you are consistant and know how far each club goes with the ball type you can play til master.  then i beleive the length of the fairways comes into play.  remember its a game and wgt does offer videos daily that i watch  etc.  i earned free credits and paid about 15 dollars since i stated back in july for balls.  i found if i want to compete as a master i need the better ball for meter control.enjoy the game  Strikerseasy

    I hate to say this but you get what you pay for with golf balls. I used to use the junk balls which seemed ok to me, but then I bought some good balls and my score dropped from the mid to high 80's to 71 the last round I played. I"m not sure which I am using at the moment but I know I won't buy such expensive balls next time,,, but again,,, they really did drop my score considerably. Consider upgrading the balls if you want to lower your score.

    This is why I switched to the Callaway ball. With 2 1/2 times the durability of the SD ball the cost came close enough to warrant switching.

    Re: the OP's original point. The balls are disproportionately expensive.

    It would be nice if there was a sliding scale so that the price of all balls decreased as you levelled up. i.e. people that play a lot are shown some sort of customer loyalty bonus.

    What are the odds of that happening?

    I would guess 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000,000, and so forth.

    It DOESN"T HAVE 2 1/2 times the durability .... It has 2.5 times the dots, yes, but I personally counted shots on the SD and got 110; according to others who counted the Callaways it was 120 or 125. This is why I said don't be fooled by the dots. I also counted the GI-SD (I think -- the SD with feel/dove ball) and got 90 (1 durability dot). Yes, the Callaway is more durable, but only, really, half a dot more if 90 is the baseline. You certainly won't get 225 hits out of 'em. I'm pretty sure the same holds true with the Srixons.

    As a general rule:

    1 dot = 90

    1.5 = 110

    2.5 = 120

    see the chart -- there's a link above. the Callaways really are expensive
