MBaggese:
jvr86: no one with 16 holes head wind and 2 side ones; can shot a 57! Simply becaus teen off from the parking lot doesnt aloud you to reach most of the greens in two lol... "some times" not even the par 5 in three!
Show me a par 5 that cannot be reached in 3....even into 30mph winds...same with par 4's.
I'll wait;)
Ok I get your point. If you play it perfect you can.... But as you can see I highligted the words Some times... that mean you didnt play it perfect, but also you didnt play it bad either...
Any way...
St andrews #14... You can't reach the fairway in front of the green so if you want to try a sencod shot aproach you need to go for the path on the left... that dangerous fairway need to be treated with caution... you dont want to go to much to the left to avoid out of bounds... little to the right some rough... and the 30mph head wind will make a pixel ding a disater.... any way you did it. now you have a 200yrd shot head wind at 7pm to pin .... etc
any way that was not my point (to prove that you can't reach par 5 in 3 with high winds), my point was tha while one player is struggling trying to save a par in there, another one is 12ft from pin for eagle. If you manage to save the par... good, you are a good player you did it good.
...but there is a difference of one player having a 200 yrd shot (probably with a 3 wood) for eagle and another with a 12 feet putt for eagle... see my point? both players with good skills, both players did a perfect hole... and both players are good. but one of them had the random wind on his favor and that was a -2 against a par, trust me it takes more skills to save a par in there with 30mph head wind than to eagle it with 30mph tail wind , but you will still lose one or two strokes... so, to measure who has more skills you need to test them in same conditions... don't you think?
After all, it all become a random+skill thing to win instead of only the skills. if 2 players have the same skills... then the winner will be chosen by y random algorithm that decide what kind of wind you are having... take out the skills from the equation and trow some dices!!!
if you keep counting each hole with one player all tail wind, and the other all head wind... you will see a difference of -15 on their score cards... and again both played well
thanks for you appreciation point and sorry if I said something that upset you... I was just trying to give my opinion on this matter and as you might see...my English can be a little poor (Spanish speaker)
cheers
Javier.
