    GoodyChamp:

OMG, why doesnt this 1 drop....

for the same reason that the moon doesn't hit the sun during an eclipse

I admit it was the backside of the hole, but when watching the line carefully (replay #2) u'll see it was within the cup. Further on the putt wasnt fast enough 2 lipout either, so I still think this 1 should have gone in.

Applying the laws of physics, any put like that would have dropped in the real world....I now .....its a game :)

Ahh, but it did lip out. You can see it turn ever so slightly if you use the zoomer.

    no it wasn't

    the line is incorrect

for the same reason as this thread http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/73658.aspx

the "line" does not centre on where the ball is touching the ground

the "line" incorrectly shows the path of a 2-dimensional white disc across a 2-dimensional photogragh

    spot the difference

thx oilyrag, your explanation at least give a reasonable answer why the putt didnt drop. Think I (at least) partially get the point, but I want u 2 ask some additional explanation.

As far as I get the point u're making, is that the blue arrow above indicates where the ball is touching the ground (in that case it still should drop i think, cause its withinin the line of the cupedge). When the blue arrow is a representation of the backpart of the ball, than its totally clear 2 me that the ball shouldn't drop. Everyting between those 2 representations of the blueline are vague and there is a possibility 2 drop or stay.

2 make it even more complicated, when comparing it 2 an eclips (the putting line in 2d), than u cant say anything about it at al, so every discussion about it is totally useless in that case....true? :)

Finally, perhaps u can help me with another example which I think is slightly different in that the putt is almost straight (so the representation in this case should be rather accurate) and there is definetly a little drop in hight at the end of the putt. Or could this be an optical illusion 2 (I'm thinking of a 3d sharp bend represented as a drop in 2d)?:

    Thx anyway

    Cheers, GC

Its very simple it rained earlier everyone crowded around the cup and made it a slight volcano lol
