I have the G10's now, but am thinking about buying the Burners when I reach level 79.

I hear alot of people saying great things about the Burners, but when you compare the specs there really isn't that much difference between the two.

Is it really worth it to spend the extra money (2495 credits) and buy the Burners?

IMO, definitely. While it might seem like there's not much difference on the surface, there actually is. Notice the increase in precision and forgiveness. One dot more in precision is a huge improvement and the 1/2 dot extra in forgiveness makes up a little for the increase in the meter speed. You get used to it really quick because even though it's slightly faster it always seemed to be more consistent in the way it didn't speed up-it was the same speed from start to finish. Using a slower meter ball helps immensely although I used the Tour-SD with them and didn't have a problem.

The G10s are excellent irons. Many Legends still use them but the Burners really perform well and once you're used to them you forget the G10s easily. Then you can revisit this thread when you start getting close to the R11s.  :-)

I have had the burner 2.0 and sold them back and went with the g10, I like the yardage gaps better and the slower meter of the g10.

The burner on a ding had inconsistent yardage that was hard to be extremely precise sometimes and wind calculations were off and hard to figure out for me.

    just IMHO.

I strongly recommend you buy the Burner 2.0 irons! Half a dot more spin is an understatement. Also, I suggest you get a good 52W along with the irons. I bought the Burner 2.0 irons along with the Cleveland 52W a while ago and they will last me probably till some G20's come along with a 3iron that backs up 5 yards, lol.

    In brief...

    Burner 2.0 irons + Cleveland 52W = Happiness.

Your current bag - 1 hybrid = 3 wedges in your bag = More happiness.

The CG version of this club gets overlooked a lot because it is easily done without if you use the punch shot with the set PW. It's even closer to the R11 set PW. However, it is an entirely different club than either set wedge and is worth looking at. It punches 96 and handles spin great, if you use it. I find i don't have to because of the way it is easy to choke down on and it is very accurate. The Satin 52 degree wedge was the same way.

This link might help you decide. Shows a break down of the equipment used by all players that qualified & played in the Virtual US Open 2011.

Note: The burner irons were only out a short time and the R11 irons were still unavailable.

If you play well with the Burners, they are a lot better than the G10s. If you can't handle the meter, then they will make you pay. The xtra spin, distance and precision will be huge if you can control them properly. I never looked back even once after getting them.

As a Master, no...probably not needed as TM either, as you'll only see an advantage with long irons mainly.

I never had a problem holding shots with the G10's inside 150-160 yards, as I recall, most approaches were with wedges and short irons.

The burners are definitely worth the money. I played them before the r11 irons. Forget about the specs, it is a huge difference. Before the burners I had the r9 irons and the difference between them and the burners is immense.

As a Master with G10s, I beg to differ... my 4 and 5 irons getmore use than wedges for approaches on par 4s -- not to mention all the long (with G10s) par 3s (194, 204, 207, 202, 193, etc.) A few par 4s are usually unreachable. Granted, I don't have the R9.
