Don't hate the player, hate the game.

    They made the rules.

Technically it isn't cheating to achieve a rank and not play enough to move up to the next one, even if your average is well below the needed number, you can stay by just not playing anymore.  I tend to agree that it is a WGT problem, I personally think that a combination of scoring average, ranked rounds and level should be the factor that moves you around.  I understand why people say this is cheating because the people with these low averages at high levels can buy all clubs and be at the top level and win a lot of match play games.

I don't play match play for credits and this is one reason, too much incentive to 'cheat' in this way..

It is a system problem but there are only too many players willing to use this system to their advantage. Not necessarily this player I may add.

The issue I find hard to grasp is why a player wouldn't want to progress? From the day I joined I wanted to be the best I could. If I beat someone who played off tees further back than mine, it meant little to me. I wanted to beat them on a level playing field. I'll never understand their way of thinking.....that's just me....

WGT needs to change the rules, because some people either can't tell right from wrong on their own, or don't care. FYI, WGT does have a totally toothless "policy" against what this guy is doing -- which is not just playing alt shot because he likes it, but deliberately avoiding ranked stroke play rounds to manipulate his tier placement.

"Note, these new Tiers & Levels are not designed to address sandbagging (players misrepresenting their ability to gain advantage in tournaments and match play). While these changes will help make sandbagging harder and discourage "quitting" in multi-player games, we're working on other improvements to address sandbagging by monitoring score histories and sandbagging behaviors, and addressing violations to our community policies more aggressively." (Sept. 2010)

It's been over a year ... has anything been done? Nope.
