    I'm glad!

    Just re-read Genorb's post:

    "I finished top 10 in the October Fall Championship and finished top 3 (tied for first place with Dansamcam) in the November Fall Championship.

    So, because I finished in top 3, I am thus qualified for the final played by 9 players only."

    Clearly then he was in a Top 3 place, but missed out due to his country of residence, so someone else got handed his spot.

    I on the other hand either unluckily missed out though not being in the Top 3 on countback... or WGT simply forgot to email me!!

    Either way it's pretty harsh! Completely understand there needs to be a winner in WGT Tournaments so a method for working out who wins in tie situation has been worked out (although in Credit comps pots could be split), but when it's qualifiying, surely Tied 3rd equal shots is good enough?! There were never going to be more than say 20 people tied 3rd or better over the 3  tournaments, which isn't making the field much more exclusive over the whole of WGT than 9 players, and it would avoid all the confusion.

    Plus of course with Genorb's issue, let them officially qualify and play, but they can't win the prize as per the rules.

    perhaps like me, they were not in the 'Top 3' though, just in Tied 3rd... maybe Genorb remembers?

    Elvinomepego was tied 3rd (but first of all the players that were 3rd in the leaderboard). I remember well because he is a friend and I sent him a congratulation message.

    In my case this is even clearer. I was tied first with Dansamcam (only the two of us) in November. So I was in the top 3. From my score history

    12.06.11  WGT Fall Tour - November Championship  Full 18  All Players      62

    The sum is 120 like the score of Dansamcam.

    i agree totally

    wontonamo has qualified for the championship with a best placed finish of 13th in the same event where you finished 3rd, so surely you must have qualified, correct ?

     

    penners, i just had a thought and tried it.....

     

    i just entered the fall championship    :))))))))))))))))

    As I wrote above anyone can enter the tournament if you know the link to page :) .

    Oily, that was Genorb's comment not mine - yeah as pointed out Wontonoma didn't qualify, he just chose to play like you, I, Genorb or anyone could.

    So from this,  it looks pretty 'clear' that:

    • Top 3 = top 3 positions in the Leaderboard  (not tied 3rd) as per WGT's rules.
    • Players from country's not elliglble to win the prize - in this instance Belgium and Argentina, were for some reason banned from playing in the Finals despite Top 3 finishes.
    • Players outside the Top 3 spots were then given places taken by multiple Top 3 finishers and players from country's not elliglble to win the prize.

    At the end of all that it looks like (apart from Genorb and Elvino' where it's even harsher) I'm the only player to finish 'Top 3' to miss out from a country elligle to win the prize. Typical.

    All very confusing though - allow ties and players from all countries to play (if not to win the prize due to gambling laws etc.) and surely it's a lot clearer?

    I'd have loved the chance to officaly play in the event. I know like you Oily, I can still play, but like Genorb said, there's no motivation to do so...

    Yes, understand that now, hence my further comment that you may have missed before you replied. Thanks for the clarification though.

    I feel unlucky not to have qualified, but your (and Elvi's) situation seems totally unacceptable. Have you read through all the Tournament rules?

    I received a message from Iconian (thanks for that Icon). They decide to qualify only elligible players but that was not originally in the tournament rules. They decided that afterwards. 

    Elvino and myself knew that we couldn't win the prize, we wanted just to play this competition to measure ourself against top players in a 4 rounds tourney, just for the "sportive" aspect.

    Well in my opinion the whole thing hasn't been explained clearly throughout and I'm not suprised it's resulted in confusion.

    As I said, I posted my thoughts about this in my CC Forum and were going to ask the questions (that I believed we have answered here) I had before the Finals on the main forum, just didn't get round to it.

    Completely understand from a sporting persepective why you would have loved to have played, despite not being able to win the prize. You deserved the right to play. Of course you still can but 'unofficially' it probably wouldn't be the same.

    I on the other hand look like I missed out fairly to the rules (although pretty harsh and unlucky in my opinion!) but of course not having qualified officially has taken away the chance of winning the $1000 (however small!).

    Thanks for you input as always Genorb (and Oilyrag), I've got to go out now, but if you do reply, I'll get back to you tomorrow morning.

    there is nothing i can see how "multi qualified" player are dealt with.

    i will assume this - given that you did not receive the email.
