Sorry for the bitter tone but I must say that I am quite disappointed.

I finished top 10 in the October Fall Championship and finished top 3 (tied for first place with Dansamcam) in the November Fall Championship.

So, because I finished in top 3, I am thus qualified for the final played by 9 players only. I knew that I could not win the 1000$ prize but I didn't care, I was just happy to play this competition with other top players. I am much more interested by the "sportive" part of this game than by the "money" part of it. (that's why I do not play much ready-goes).

But the final has started and I am not qualified (other players who were not in top 3 are playing it).

Even more strange, elvinomepego (who finished 3rd in November) and myself are now removed from the leaderboard of the November Fall Championship (and also from October Fall Championship)

    http://www.wgt.com/tournaments/leaderboard.aspx?ID=e9f71a96-258a-44e6-8a96-9f8d017a8f80

So, I didn't received the two 100$ amazon gift cards for finishing twice in the top 10. But in the tournament rules it's indeed written that my country is not among the elligible countries. OK fine.

But it was not written that your country has to be elligible to be qualified for the final in January. It's just written that you need to be in the top 3 that's what I did in November.

So not only you don't receive the money you won (OK fine, it's written somewhere in the rules) but you cannot play the competition for which you qualified...

So you are spending time and money playing those Fall/Winter competitions for nothing:

    1. Your name is removed from the leaderboard at the end (it's like you didn't play them)
    2. You cannot receive any prize
    3. You cannot play the final for which you qualified

    Yep quite disappointed...

Sorry again for the bitter tone...

    Regards

    Edit:

OK I found the link to the tournament and it looks like I can play it if I want (like anybody, it's not restricted). If nothing is wrong with that I could play it... But motivation is a bit down now :) .

I understand that players who were not in top 3 are qualified for the final. Indeed imagine that each month (October, November and December), the top 3 are players from countries that are not elligible, then no prize are awarded for the final between those 9 players.

But a better way to handle this would be the following.

The top 3 players are qualfied + the subsequent players to have 3 elligible players qualified each month. For example if the top 3 is three non-elligible players, and the 4th, 5th and 6th are elligible, then those 6 players are qualified. So like this, you have a  final with 9 elligible players that compete for the prize + additional players who qualified thanks to the scores they post but who cannot win the prize (and thus they play it for the fun if they want to or not if they like to play for money only).

    Fabian,

It always has been a mistery 2 me why people from Belgium are not eligible, though germany and the netherlands are. Think it's about time 2 change the rules so players like Elvi and yourself can play just like anybody else from the 'privilaged' countries. You can't say it's a fair competition right now.  Some work 2 do WGT !

    Cheers, GC

excuse me for butting in :) a bit bored so i've been looking at this

i expect your names were removed because they were in money positions. elvinomepego finished outside the money in the december championship and so has not been removed.

the better way of dealing with this would have been to leave all names in and merely assign the prizes to those in the list eligible.

a further point here though - tell me if i'm wrong :)

i've looked at the 3 championship

    these correct ?

and i cannot work out for the life of me how the final 9 were chosen

if i'm looking at the correct 3 qualifying tournament championship one of the players best finish was 13th.

am I missing something? are there other " qualifiers that i don't know about?

You are right only the names in the top 10 were removed. Elivinomepego finished 3rd in November and was removed from that leaderboard but not from the December leaderboard because he finished beyond top 10.

I finished top 10 in October and November and was removed from thos leaderboard (however I finished quite far in December because I withdrew one round and was not removed from the December leaderboard).

I think you are talking about Wontonamo, I guess he was not qualified and played the round just for fun. The tournament is not restricted, if you know the link to the correct webpage, you just click enter and you can play it.

and now that i've been looking around i've noticed something else regarding the sweepstake

    http://www.wgt.com/news/archive/2011/12/08/wgt-fall-tour-winners-announced.aspx

anyone explain how these winner were chosen

i can't find one of these names, 2 of them never played a fall qualifier of any type - 1 of which has just 1 entry in the score history since the beginning of october?

please tell me i'm not going mad....... :)

edit - i've put this in a separate post

Step Two. The 9 qualifiers from the October, November and December 2011 qualifying tournaments will be supplied with a link to access the hidden FALL TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT. Only those players are eligible to play and win the grand prize.

Yes this is hidden, but still one can manage to find the link as you did (pretty simple). But hidden doesn't mean restricted. Anyone can click on enter and play it. I guess it's just a technical issue, they didn't make it restricted for some reason, perhaps it's too complicated, but anyway only the 9 players qualified can win the prize, so it doesn't matter if others play it or not (they will be kicked out the leaderboard at the end I guess).

It's supposed to be a random drawing from the list of players who played the qualifiying rounds. But I didn't check if they actually played it, I guess yes.

i realised my error with the qualifier, gen. i unluckily looked at the leaderboard when there were only 9 scores posted ( now 10 ). i badly assumed there was an overall 9 qualifiers ( well that's what the write up appears to suggest ) .....but it appears 9  ( or more ) from each :)

still don't understand the sweepstake winners though, i've looked again, but still find the same thing

I have to say I'm pretty confused by all this...

I finished T3 in the December Championship but wrote in my CC Forum that I wasn't sure if that would ensure my qualification for the Tour Championship, since the rules state this:

"The lowest 10 combined scores will get $100 Amazon Gift Cards, and the lowest 3 combined scores will qualify for the Fall Tour Championship in Jan, where just 9 people will play for the Tour title and $1,000 grand prize! See tournament rules for details.

There is no mention of ties in there and I came 'bottom' of the tied 3rds for January (8th in the list). In this instance, does this count as 3rd or '8th'

Obviously some guys - Bollox, dud_doodle, Hanswurst, have finished in the Top 3 more than once - could it be that their place in the Top 3 was replaced by the next place down in the subsequent tournament. So for December, their Top 3 places were taken instead by RUNWME, F Fudd and PortsD... stopping one short of me!!

I can't give any more than a guess at this since guys from Country's not elligble to win the Gift Card ie Genorb, elvinomepego, are no longer shown in the original leaderboard (ridiculous that a) they have been removed and b) they can play in the qualifiers, but not in the final... perhaps like me, they were not in the 'Top 3' though, just in Tied 3rd... maybe Genorb remembers?

Main point for me is, I'm from the UK, so I can win the prize, I came joint 3rd and yet I did not receive the email (I check everyday). These tournaments really need to be clearer in the future...

I hope that makes sense, but will understand if it doesn't!
