Importantly, the winner cannot say he/she beat the best on WGT, which is no good.

I can tell you that the player who will win the 1000$ doesn't care one second about that :).

You may not my friend. But I would :)

Don't inverse the role. I would care but I am not the one who can play, I am the one who should play and cannot :) . Do you see any of the qualified players giving their opinion in this thread? They are busy to try to win the prize, no matter who is playing. I can understand... :).

My point, perhaps badly made,  was simply that your generalisation does not apply to all.

WGT should address this issue and certainly decide a consistent policy for the future IMHO. And I think that excluding players from major tourney finals devalues both the game and the tourney itself. Since this game, and the 'hook', ultimately ends up as a challenge between personalities and characters, much of the value is lost with the current policy.

While certain states within the USA and other countries do have some restrictive regulations in play regarding the transfer of money to participants there are alternatives to that that could be being used here. An example would be if the player is restricted from accepting money the value of balls could be given. The reason that this is possible is there is no resell on balls. Virtual Equipment couldn't be used because then it just turns into a money laundering issue but international law and federal law of the usa both stand behind Non- transferable rights. ( In other words something you can't sell or that has no declared value) Balls on this game site have no second hand value because they cannot be transferred or sold.

Now with that said  Alternative number 2:

A business can never have enough "Goodwill" or free advertisement. Allow the players that cannot receive money due to restrictions to allocate those funds to bona fide 5013C charities or churches. Not only would most players be thrilled that they are getting to play for a charity but with WGT being a USA company a whole program called " Keeping it Here at Home " could be born which would amount to mass amounts of free press about a Company here in the USA that holds virtual golf events and the players play for charities.

Now clearly we saw that WGT is willing to step forward with charities as displayed in the Pebble Beach / National Kidney Foundation but let's give some small charities who don't have the mass advertisement budget the NKF does to step up and be heard from.

I know a small church in Thomasville, North Carolina who wants to begin a Soup Kitchen for the hungry so that those who could not find shelter in one of the overflowing shelters that night can still have warm liquids during the night to help fight to keep them alive and yes they are a 5013C Charity documented by the IRS.

We've got Veterans who fought for this country who are sleeping in the streets and we need more VA Shelters that are designed to help the Vets get back on their feet and get them solid. With some of the things those guys saw they have turned to drugs and alcohol to try to forget and a warm bed just isn't all they need.

What I am saying here is together we can make a difference and WGT can increase their "Goodwill" and standing in multitudes of communities by allowing the players to pick a charity they would like to play for when they cannot receive the prize. No longer would WGT be concerned with eliminating players.

It's WIN - WIN Business for the player and WGT so what do you say WGT? How about we not only have some fun playing on this wonderful site but let's save some lives together and rebuild some others!!

@Farfoo: Sorry, English is not my native language so sometime I miss the point. If you had written "Some players may not my friend. But I would :)", I would have better understood :).

@Bootsnbra: As long as I can play the competitions for which I qualified, I would be very pleased to give my prizes to charity foundations. No problem with that.

    WGTicon:
Personally, I do not know why Belgium is excluded but form our POV, I am sure country is not the issue. What the issue is the law's and obviously there is something there that prohibits it.

Good to know. I thought it had something to do with sponsors not willing to throw giftcards to backwater.

Or does your answer refer only to western european countries like Belgium? Somehow I doubt in wgt's perusal of, e.g., Polish law.

    Backwater? I don't follow :)

To be honest, I don't know who specifically decides what qualifies for what but obviously it's done before each tournament to make sure we comply with the laws.

I don't know how much more information I can find out on this, but I'll check into it and if I do find out more information, i'll post here.

Having read this thread through, I can honestly say that I genuinely feel for players like Fabien and Walter who have rightly qualified for this tournament. I was surprised when I got in given my 4th placing in November and having seen all this info, it now makes sense why I made it.

Given that I've benefited from their loss, I'll put in writing that if by a WGT miracle I were to gain from this situation, I'd gift 25% each of the winnings to the two players who suffered. Now that this is out there, would the eight others kindly WD on R3 so that I can get on with playing the good samaritan ;)

Three people gain or just one......come on everyone, you know it makes sense! Oh well then, you two'll just have to cheer me on to successive 50's from the tips lol

Icon ,backwater is what we here in Kentucky and some of the surrounding states call flood waters. When the river goes above flood stage we say "the backwater is rising" I have no idea why it is called that unless it's because the waters back out of the river.
