    below is the announcement from

    http://www.wgt.com/news/archive/2011/12/08/wgt-fall-tour-winners-announced.aspx

The WGT Fall Tour golf tournament has ended for November, and the winners have been announced!

Thousands of online golfers competed in the November Qualifier played on Oakmont, and the top 100 players (plus ties) qualified for the November Championship played on St Andrews and Royal St George's this week, with the Top 10 combined scores earning $100 Amazon Gift Cards.

Every month, WGT also selects random players in the Fall Tour (regardless of their scores) to win free virtual golf equipment from the Pro Shop. In the November Qualifier, the following WGT Players won the TaylorMade Ghost Spider Putter (L92+), which is the top-performing putter on WGT. Congratulations to...

    • SIYAL – Pro
    • jburtonw10 – Tour Pro
    • chisar43 – Master
    • simmons0442 – Tour Master
    • pompanike – Legend

anyone explain how these winners were chosen

i can't find one of these names ( although i suspect it is a misprint ), 2 of them never played a fall qualifier of any type - 1 of which has just 1 entry in the score history since the beginning of october?

but surely this is the best place to ask. someone will show me how i have read it incorrectly.

i would never have bothered looking at this, but i was looking for info ref the other posts on the fall tour and came across this.

read the rules ???   oh right.... so how many postal entries do you get from members that don't play the 18 holes, yet still wish to enter the sweepstake?

    Interesting observation...

plyr 1 & 4 have it in their score history

plyr 2 has no mention of it

plyr 3 & 5 do not appear in WGT player search...though for 5 there is a similar name with an 'm' instead of an 'n'.

    ?

now  i thought i was using cut and paste to search these names earlier today, but maybe i typed in some of them.

for #3 "..... i somehow automatically put in an 'r'........" and somehow came across a name

further to this the winners for october follow a similar pattern, 3 have played, 2 haven't

From the tournament rules (I have cut some irrelevant parts for this thread)

"Alternative Method to Enter Sweepstakes. .... You may also enter the Sweepstakes by registering for a free World Golf Tour account at www.wgt.com (if you have not already), and sending a 3"x5" card with the following information ..... To: World Golf Tour, Inc., WGT NOVEMBER FALL TOUR Entry, 180 Montgomery Street, 8th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94104."

So you do not know if they didn't send a postcard to WGT to participate. Would be suprizing to participate that way (while you just have to play once the 18-hole), but who knows...

    Regards

yes gen, i made that point above. how many people do you think actually send in postal entries to a web based company that they are already a member of ????

from the november sweepstake 3 of 5 winners have played the tournament

from the october sweepstake 3 of 5 winners have played the tournament

a sweepstake has a random draw correct?

well knock me down with a feather, both draws produce the same outcome

I don't know about the sweepstakes, but I know a few people that enter the monthly premium tournaments in just that manner.  I figure that it might take a week or so for your entry to be confirmed thru the mail, but the cost of a postage stamp ( 44 or 45 cents) is less than 1/10th of the 500 cr entry fee.

if you look at the october sweepstake winners in particular

    5 "random" winners

3 of 5 entered and played the tournament

2 of 5 did not play

therefore i presume.... we must make the assumption that those 2 entered by post.... correct?

looking at the score history and activity history shows that the 2 lucky "postal" winners...

it appears that they so wanted to win that they don't bother playing.

the november sweeps show a similar story, only 3 of 5 played.... coincidence???

i've looked and looked at the rules, if i'm missing something i still cannot see it.

    a further point to this.

sweepstake winners are being given clubs way above their current levels (mostly)

i thought it wasn't allowed to equip the bag with clubs above the player's current level
