Congratulations to Iconian and Kosei82 --- winners of the first MIRC "Beat the Meter". Participants, scores and final standings are below. Kudo's to Kosei82 for a tremendous six under par ... in a game where par (and sometimes over par) is a fabulous score.
"Beat the Meter" is a very fast, fun and exciting variation on the normal WGT game. The rules are very simple and apply to every shot --- even putting.
- You have 10 seconds to shoot every shot - even putts
- You must play with whatever club, shot, and aim the WGT caddy gives you.
- You can not change the club
- You can not change the direction of the ball flight (don't move the arrow),
- No Spin - no backspin or forward spin allowed .. don't touch the dot
- Play the chip, pitch or full shot that you are given - no changes
- Do not change the meter setting - yes you have to use the 90 ft putting meter even if your 10 ft from the hole
The only thing you can control is where you hit the ball relative to the meter. Hitting the meter perfectly (ding) is normally a bad shot or putt. You need to draw / fade the ball based on where you click as the meter moves. Early for the draw, late for the fade.
Sorry for no pre-notification or sign ups but this was a pick up tournament put together on the spot for a few of the folks chatting in mIRC.
Instruction on how to access the mirc chat room can be found in the following link.

PLEASE NOTE:
Forgive me for not posting the first place prize .. or my side bet with Kosei had he shot 27 in this format --- but much like the laws which govern internet gaming --- these topics are considered illegal in many states here in the USA.
