Realistically 51 but Bollox's 52 will probably stand. The main reason why anything lower is unlikely; most people won't grind a qualifier and waste balls when there is no return other than a low score. There are plenty of other setups to be had in the future where breaking the 50 barrier will be more realistic.

With a Par 72 course, -23 is highly unrealistic from the TM tees as you'd have a minute chance of hitting the perfect set of winds on all the key holes to make the necessary eagles. Cabo will eventually see a 49 once another tourn is set from the baby tees.

    godelescher:

I'm going to change my prediction to 48.

    What meds are you on?

    Lol... but seriously, there's 2 par-5's on STA and eagle putt chances at 5, 9, 10, 12 and 14.

A single slip-up will rule out a sub-50, on 15-21mph winds and greens that can be nasty in places. A bad wind will rule out eagles on #10 and #14, a bad click anywhere on those holes will rule out #5, #9 and #12. You can play #2, #13 and #17 pretty well but still make a par. The settings are ripe for oodles and oodles of mid to high 50's but it's still hard to go into low 50's.

    My bet's on a cut of 55/54 and a winner of 51.

Just so we're clear, yes, St. Andy's has 2 par fives. I realize that and now I feel stupid for my imaginary par 5s.

    I get it.

I still believe that the overwhelming desire to post the lowest round in WGT history will outweigh the "Just enough to qualify" mentality.

We have four weeks to go, I stand by my prediction of 48.

    BiB,

C'mon, be honest. A score of less than 50 is within your reach, right? Of course it needs to be the perfect storm of conditions, but certainly you'll admit that it can be done, right?

A little while ago WGT ran a 1,000cr RG from the front (hack) tees of Cabo, low winds and Championship greens for a month. See http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/74083.aspx?PageIndex=1

Using all the best hole scores within reach, including a couple of 40 yard holeouts, I calculated the "perfect storm" score as 44. Using the same method, I count 47 for this comp. Consider that then we had winds in the range of 5mph, this time in the range of 18-20mph. In that RG, the best score managed was multiple 51's.

That, combined with my previous post in this thread, is why 50 will probably not be broken.

I ended up posting a 50 in the last week of that one doodles, had a 30 something yard shot on 18 for the 49, missed of course.

And yes godelescher, 49 is entirely possible in this one.

My bad... very very nice 50 indeed!

49 is possible... but will it happen? I hope so...

49 will only be possible if the likes of BIB, Genorb, Suncity etc,  can be bothered going round again and again. My guess is that once they've qualified, they'll sit on their scores and use the time more productively amassing credits in the RGs.

Hopefully, the gauntlet has now been thrown and these guys will set out to prove me wrong.

(whilst I play all the RGs and gain some credits which doesn't normally happen due to the prescence of the WGT super legends.)
