Hi all. Just wondering if I am the only one to encounter a gross inconsistency in what the game gives you regarding putts and fairway shots. It is really frustrating when the game gives you certain information about the greens or wind or lie and you base your stroke on that information and within a reasonable variance in your shots/putts, the game is grossly unreasonable and inconsistent in what it allows your shots to achieve.

just wondering if there is any solution short of quitting it altogether or spending a large amount of money on fantasy clubs.

I certainly wouldn't call it "grossly unreasonable and inconsistent".  You just need to practice.  You will develop a feel for the yardages.  I also would not describe the money you have to spend for quality clubs a "large amount".  Me thinks you doth exaggerate too much!

I don't know about the game being inconsistent but I would like to submit my nomination for myself being the most inconsistent player here.

Spend, spend, spend...what the heck do you think the people who run this site want you to do. I spent money on good clubs and balls and still find the inconsistencies you are experiencing. I did do well at first and got used to how to hit the ball. Now when I shoot the same way I get different results and I am sure if I asked someone would tell me that I need better clubs again. This site has a thing called VEM which makes the game harder for you as you improve so you "won't get bored" but it is really so the owners can get more money out of you. As for inconsistent, I never seem to get the same results on similar shots.  I practice a lot but I find that it doesn't matter. I shoot par one round and with the same conditions and shooting what I would think is better I end up +5 or worse. Logic would think if I hit better then my score would improve but you are right this game is inconsistent and has what I think are many bugs. I have seen my ball fly right to left with a 16mph left to right wind so no one can convince me that this game always runs properly.

I don't think anyone would assert that the game "always runs properly".  The bottom line is, if you are not having fun why play?  Many seem caught up on the money aspect.  Do you not expect to pay a small amount for something you enjoy and passes your time?  Do some feel "entitled" to have everything here for free AND have a place to constantly complain about how bad the game is?  I say yes.  I've only been here a week, and have never seen so many whiners/complainers in my life.  This is a game run on a PC over an internet conection utilizing flash.  There is going to be glitches.  Geez.

Bro, there MAY be some truth to what your whining about. BUT they do have forums from players if you look( and not whine) that actually tell you how to make shots in different situations and they work. This is a really great game and maybe you just are hard to please. Good Luck and Blessings, J.PS u sound like a friend of mine named Chuck

    For Randell and the OP...

WGT advertises itself as the most realistic online golf game, no?

Yet you need/want to complain about various inconsistancies and whatnot.  You feel that if you hit the exact same shot or better that you should be able to play cartoon golf and stick your drive within a 10' circle, your approach to within 1' and every putt should drop, right?

No.  Sorry.  That's just not 'realistic golf'.   What you want can be found elsewhere, where they play 'cartoon golf'.  Easy enough to find so I won't mention it's name here.

Let's look at some 'realistic golf', shall we?

    Tiger Woods, 2007 stats.

    • 59% Fairways  (Highest ranked PGA players FIR 75.97%)
    • 71% Greens (ranked 1st btw)
    • Putting average 1.7+

Let's compare those stats to  random WGT'ers like AvatarLee (Arguably the best still playing),  RandellPoet (who has been here less than one month), and SusieLuke (who has been here less than 10 days), shall we?

    • 93% / 78% / 79%  Fairways
    • 80% / 64% / 36% Greens
    • Putting Average 1.3+ / 1.8+ / 2.1+

Wow... Tiger has been playing his game since he was 3.  Our WGTer who has been playing for one month can match his stats fairly well... and the WGT'er who has been here for years and has practiced his keister off pretty much obliterates TW's stats.

Bottom line... yes, there are inconsistancies.. there is the Beast and there is Vemmie... there is the erratic swing meter and all the other vagaries of playing golf electronically... and yes, there is the prospect of trying to mollify any and all of these with an investment of cash which will never work as well as you thought it should... but when all is said and done this game is still just online entertainment.

WGT ~is~ the most realistic golf on the internet.  Not the easiest, not the smoothest, not even the cheapest...

But it is realistic and you're free to come and go however and whenever you should choose.

Heh-Either kill them with kindness or do as  Snaike does-kill them with cold hard facts and logic. Nice post well stated.

I'm under the impression that they want me to enjoy a free golf game and spend money as i see fit.I have spent money and do not regret it.I'm not upset that they have came as close to golf as I can get without stepping onto a real golf course.I get all the ups and downs golf "Really" has to offer.I'm happy this is not robotic golf and that  the game accurately portrays my golfing ability within the realm of the virtual world of golf.

Nice Job!!!...Kepp up the good work WGT...
